Soft, cozy, and elegant, Merino wool dresses are an excellent choice for anyone wanting to look – and feel – good. But let’s be honest; there are so many options, and finding the perfect Merino wool dress can be challenging.

That’s where I come in! For years, I’ve been testing Merino wool gear with Jay, and now, whether I would like to or not – I have insane knowledge about Merino wool. So, I sifted through all the crap to give you the best of the best!

In this article, I will share my top 10 picks for the best Merino wool dresses for every occasion. I’ll also give tips on choosing the perfect Merino wool dress for your body type and personal style.

So whether you’re looking for a new everyday or special occasion dress, I’m sure you’ll find something you love in this list

Merino Wool Dress Buying Guide: The Four F’s

You should give an ‘F‘ about the perfect Merino wool dress; well, four ‘F’s‘ to be exact.

Before I get into my top picks, I wanted to give you some buying tips so you better understand which Merino wool dress will be best for you. Click each one to learn more!

Feel

A good dress should make me feel like I’m wearing nothing. It shouldn’t feel heavy, tight, itchy, poky, rough, or cause any discomfort. Luckily, Merino wool fibers are superfine, creating a luxuriously soft next-to-skin feel.

So, all the Merino wool dresses you see today will ‘feel‘ good. Although, with different knit designs, wool quality, and design features, make sure you ‘feel‘ good about your decision.

Fit

Do you want a dress that caresses your curves? Maybe one with a loose, flowing drape tickles your fancy? Just remember: the dress fit should fit your body type.

Fortunately, most brands offer a variety (varying hem lengths, necklines, and more) so you can find your perfect fit.

Fashion

Merino wool is an up-and-coming force in the fashion world. Its sustainability and ease of manufacturing make it a blank, eco-friendly canvas for clothing designers to showcase their expertise.

But the fashion may not be your fashion.

Get more in touch with your personal style. Are you looking for classic beauty or bad-b* tch energy? Maybe both! It’s your pick; you’re the best fashion expert you know.

Function

Many of these Merino wool dresses may seem expensive, but they cost just as much as any other luxurious dress. Yet, in this case, you get a luxurious dress made with high-quality Merino wool. See the difference!

Still, to ensure you’re getting your money’s worth, figure out how the dress works in your life. Imagine how, when, and where you’d wear it. And, if you’re a fashionista, think about how you can accessorize with belts, shoes, bags, jackets, and more!

We don’t want you spending hundreds of dollars on a Merino wool dress to have it hang in the closet all year!

Best Merino Wool Dress For Work

Wool& Brooklyn Wrap Dress

Wool& Brooklyn Wrap Dress

Pros: Reversible neckline | Excellent color variety | Longer length available

Cons: Fabric may sag with improper care | Sizing inconsistencies

Conquer the workday with style and comfort in the Wool& Brooklyn Wrap Dress. On Monday, you can wear it as a classic wrap dress, and on Tuesday, spin around the dress and wear it as a boat neck. It has a modest and professional style, which I love. Plus, you can dress it casually with a jacket or leggings on the weekends. It’s just that versatile!

Moreover, this dress is super comfy. The beautifully crafted design provides airflow, and the fabric is super soft. The extra-fine, 17.5-micron Merino wool fibers feel wonderful when draped against your skin. The 180-gsm fabric weight is light enough for a summer’s day and thick enough to combat the office air conditioning. The blended material is solid and durable, but only if you care for it properly. If you don’t, your brand-new – and pretty expensive – dress will sag like a bag of rocks after a few washes. Just launder it properly, and you’ll be fine.

And since Wool& knows every woman has a unique style & shape, they offer tons of variety with this Merino wool dress. You can choose a regular-length dress or a longer hem, adding 3″ of coverage. Moreover, a dozen color options are available, ranging from a bright Aegean Teal to a soft Vintage Blue. They all are elegant, natural tones bound to match your aesthetic. To ensure the fit matches the same, consult the size charts before ordering.

Overall, this Brooklyn Wrap Dress is a must-have for the office. Wear it forward or backward, dress it up or down, and get through your workday in style and comfort. Head over to Wool& below and grab one before your size sells out!

Best Merino Dress For Travel

Unbound Merino Travel Dress

Unbound Merino Travel Dress Black

Pros: My go-to dress on-the-go | Soft, elegant fabric | Side hem split

Cons: Availability (hot item) | Armhole depth

When you’re always on the move, you need a dress that boosts adventure, not hinders it. And the Unbound Merino Travel Dress is unmatched for globe trotters and weekend warriors alike. I fell in love with this dress while giving it a comprehensive review, and it has since become my go-to on-the-go dress. The lightweight, stretchy fabric is among the highest-quality, most comfortable materials I’ve ever worn!

Forget about the comfort; this dress is so chic & stylish, I’d be wearing it even if it wasn’t Merino wool! I have an athletic, petite frame, and it drapes nicely on my body. Moreover, the side split is fashionable and functional, offering more mobility than a tighter-fitting design. Although, the only design change I would make would be slightly smaller arm holes. You can see my bra from the side, depending on my body position. So, I usually opt for nipple covers with this dress.

And just like the rest of the Unbound Merino’s women’s collection, this dress has unique fabric features that travelers adore. For one, this dress is super packable and wrinkle-resistant (to a point), so you can pack less and do more. You can wear it every day for a week, and you don’t have to wash it! Plus, with temperature regulation properties, you can wear it on the beach, strolling around the city, or eating local cuisine.

Finally, if you’re looking for a chic, versatile Merino wool dress for your next vacation, look no further than the Unbound Merino Travel Dress. But act fast because although new colors have recently become available, this dress is a hot item. So, grab your size before it sells out!

Best Dress For Going Out

Babaton Aesthetica Dress

Babaton Aesthetica Dress Heather Birch

Pros: Three-season style | Uber-soft half-cardigan knit construction | Relatively affordable

Cons: Delicate (must launder with extreme care) | May need to size down for slimmer fit

If you’re looking for an elegant, timeless dress for grabbing a bite to eat or hitting the town, check out this Babaton Aesthetica Dress. The half-cardigan knit offers a stylish, sleek design. It’s excellent for three-season wear, as I’m not too fond of mocknecks in the summer. Although, no matter which time of year you wear this Merino wool dress, you will look good. Seriously, you have no choice; the dress does all the work.

One great thing about this dress is the unique variety of color options. Babaton frankly deserves more credit for their natural, earth-tone selections. The Heather Birch and Constant Camel are my favorites, but all seven are stylish.

And although I love the classic design and midi length, it only works with some body types. The standard fit may be too free-flowing and relaxed for some, so you should size down if you want a tighter fit. Don’t worry; the vertically ribbed knit stretches in all directions.

So, with the Aesthetica dress rich in color, feel, and style, you must be rich to afford it, right? Actually, no; it surprised me, too! This full-knit, stylish dress is just the same price – if not lower – than the others. The only caveat is that you must put more energy into cleaning and maintenance, as the fabric is delicate. Still, when you look in the mirror the first time you slip on this Merino wool dress, it will all be worth the effort.

Best Merino Wool Dress For Weddings

Smitten Merino Ava Dress

Smitten Merino Ava Dress Blue

Pros: Timeless design | Relaxed, flowing drape | Handcrafted uniqueness

Cons: Expensive | Limited size availability

If you’re looking for a statement piece, a Merino wool dress that makes you say, “I look good and feel good,” the Ava Dress from Smitten Merino is an excellent option. Its elegant, flowing design makes it our favorite Merino wool dress for any formal event, especially weddings. If you want to make an even bigger statement, choose the white optionI’m sure the bride will love it.

And who could blame her for loving your white Merino wool dress on her special day? You look fantastic at this fictional wedding. Merino’s natural stretch and the pleaded waistline will hide imperfections as you ‘take it back now, y’all.‘ And the will-they-won’t-they pairing of the deep v-neck and elbow-length sleeves will have you standing out in all those wedding albums.

Anyway, as you can imagine, this Merino wool dress is pricey. What else would you expect from a high-quality, high-fashion, one-of-a-kind piece? Each dress is handcrafted, making each one unique. That may not always be a great thing, as sometimes minor flaws are to be expected. Still, you’d be paying the same price if you put it against a high-end designer dress. But with the Ava Dress, you get the comfort and performance of Merino. Head to Smitten Merino today to see if your size and color are available!

Best Merino Wool Dress For Daily Use

Icebreaker Merino Granary Dress

Icebreaker Merino Granary Dress Olive

Pros: Flowing, effortless construction | Ultralight, breathable feel | Blank fashion canvas

Cons: No pockets | Boxy cut, not for everyone

Do you know those days you’re unsure whether you will go outside? You may get some fresh veggies at the farmers market, or you could rot in bed all day like a vegetable. If you’re wearing the Icebreaker Merino Granary Dress, you’ll be ready for either.

And as with all Icebreaker gear, the Granary dress is constructed with the highest quality Merino wool. The smooth, ultralight fabric is breathable and comfy but keeps you toasty around the house.

Still, it’s hard to classify this as a Merino dress; it’s more of a boxy, extended tee with a couple of dress features, like a curved hem and side splits. Although, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The simple, minimalist design opens up a world of options. I can complement this these with chunky sneakers, sandals, and accessories. It’s truly a blank canvas for fashion lovers like myself.

However, the Icebreaker Granary Dress is a lounge shirt at heart. So, it’s unfortunate that there are no pockets. Who needs pockets when you’re ‘doom scrolling‘ on Reels all day?! Scroll on over to Icebreaker while you’re at it!

Best Merino Wool Dress For Motherhood

Wool& Rowena Swing Dress

Wool& Rowena Swing Dress Green

Pros: Daily dress for daily comfort (100 days, actually) | Hides imperfections | Incredible color selection

Cons: Shape may not hold as expected | Pockets are too shallow

Whether you’re a seasoned soccer mom, slingshotting kids around town, or a first-time mom-to-be, one thing being a mother has taught me: your kids will break you. So, you might as well be comfy as they make you question your life choices—that’s where the Wool& Rowena Swing Dress shines. That’s right; whether you’re playing with your toddler at the park or yelling at him to stop eating the woodchips, this is the Merino wool dress for you.

Jokes aside, the Rowena dress is sweeping the nation, regardless of your ‘mom’ status. Wool& is so confident in their product that they’ll give you a $100 gift card for wearing the dress for 100 days straight. And thousands of women have already taken the 100-Day Dress Challenge and succeeded! Would you be up for the task?

The real reason this Rowena swing dress is becoming so popular is not because of some social media contest but because it’s a fabulous dress. It’s fitted at the chest and shoulder with a classic A-line drape, coming to rest just above the knee (longer lengths available). The lightweight, wool-nylon material regulates your body’s microclimate, so you’ll stay cool and comfortable. And for most moms whose lives are anything but cool or comfortable, the little things can make a world of difference.

Overall, the Wool& Rowena Swing dress is a functional, good-looking dress that works. It’s tested and approved by thousands of happy customers. And, with over a dozen unique colors and patterns, there’s bound to be a shade that matches your style. Get one, wear it 100 days, and you’ll understand what the hype is all about.

Best Merino Wool Dress For Spring

Smartwool Active Tank Dress

Smartwool Active Tank Dress

Pros: Sporty, athleisure look | Engineered, breathable fabric | Drop-in hand pockets

Cons: Fit may vary depending on body shape | May be too short for some

When the snow melts and the flowers bloom, it’s time to get back outside. From picnics in the park to walks in the woods to mimosas on the patio, spring is the season to enjoy the sunshine you forgot about for three months. Why not enjoy the rays in a Merino wool dress?! And, if you’re planning on spending this spring on the move, the Smartwool Active Tank Dress should be your top choice.

This athleisure Merino wool dress uses a blended Merino-Nylon lining, offering a soft next-to-skin feel. Although, the outer material is a synthetic blend with no Merino! The lack of wool on the exterior makes the fabric more durable and less prone to tearing. Yet, with the soft Merino lining, you still get all of wool’s beneficial natural properties.

Moreover, this Active Tank Dress has unique features that set it apart from the crowd. I particularly like the ‘peekaboo’ back opening, as it allows plenty of ventilation. However, the best feature has to be the pockets. Yes, a sporty Merino wool dress with pockets! Shallow, yes, but pockets nonetheless. Considering their longstanding reputation in the industry, I wouldn’t expect anything less from Smartwool.

So, if you’re interested in upping your athleisure wardrobe this spring, try this Smartwool Active Tank Dress. You can pair it with sandals for a Sunday brunch or throw on a pair of boyshorts and sneakers for an afternoon hike. Whichever style you choose, keep it light and simple. Spring is a time for a fresh start, so you should do it in this fresh Merino wool dress.

Best Merino Wool Dress For the Beach

Woolx Lexie Dress & Cover-up

Woolx Lexie Merino wool Dress & Cover-Up

Pros: Basic, no-frills design | Quick-drying, breathable | Perfect for post-beach margaritas

Cons: Only one color is available | Fit inconsistencies

Merino wool is an excellent option at the beach! Not only is it moisture-wicking & quick-drying, but it’s also UV-resistant. So, it’s no surprise that the Woolx Lexie Dress & Cover-Up is a popular beachgoer option. After a day in the water, I can throw it overtop a swimsuit for my customary post-beach frozen margarita. Wait, that’s not a thing?

Still, this dress is versatile enough to squeeze into your weekly wardrobe even when you’re not tan and tipsy. You can wear it around town or do anything; it is the dealer’s choice. It’s a casual, versatile piece ready to take on the day. Although, the hem length is too revealing for my liking. It’s good for a basic cover-up, but other options are available if you’re someone like me who prefers more coverage.

And, just as we’ve said before about Woolx, they have some of the highest-quality Merino wool gear we’ve tried. So, even if you’re interested in this dress, it’s worth giving Woolx a shot. I remain a satisfied customer, and I’m sure you will be, too! If not, frozen margaritas on me.

Best Merino Wool Dress For Fall

Ridge Merino Hyde Dress

Ridge Merino Hyde Dress Navy

Pros: Stylish outdoor design | Super warm terry material | Thumbholes & zippered hand pockets

Cons: Not fit for all body types | Low inventory

When the leaves change color, it’s time to break out the Ridge Merino Hyde Dress. It’s the perfect dress for fall. The 275-gsm, 100% Merino wool terry fabric is soft and toasty, begging to be around a campfire. It’s the pumpkin spice of Merino wool dresses – but the real stuff, not that garbage from Starbucks.

Even in near-freezing temperatures, you’ll have thumbholes and zippered pockets for your hands. It may not be much, but when it’s early November, and your Uber driver has been 5-minutes away for the last 15 minutes, it can make a difference.

The style is perfect for the fall months but suitable for four-season use. Its natural outdoor vibe makes it ideal for van lifers and local explorers. And Ridge Merino, based out of Mammoth Lakes, knows something about the outdoors. We’ve fallen in love with them over the years as they have an outstanding price-to-quality ratio.

So, head to Ridge Merino below and see if the Hyde Dress is the right Merino wool dress for you!

Best Merino Wool Dress For Special Events

Wolford Merino Rib Dress

Wolford Merino Wool Ribbed Dress Black

Pros: Hugs curves spectacularly | Elegant, classic style | Unique wide-ribbed design

Cons: Most expensive dress overall | Not 100% Merino wool

Work. It. Girl. You’ll look hot as sh*t in this Wolford Merino rib dress. The tight fit accentuates your curves nicely, and you’ll look the baddest b*tch at the party.

The unique wide-ribbed design and high neck make this an excellent choice for special events in the colder months. Just throw on a pair of Merino Jacquard Tights and slay queen.

Although, this dress is expensive. Like, super expensive. For reference, you can buy about five other Merino wool dresses for the same price. Still, the quality is 1000% worth it. I wish there were more Merino wool in the fabric, but the high-class cotton is just as soft and luxurious.

So, if you want to turn some heads the next time you’re at a social gathering, consider the Wolford Merino Rib Dress. With six stylish colors to match your preferences, you have no excuse not to look good in this dress!

Winter is a time to enjoy the snow and outdoors, but your time may be cut short without the proper gear. When the temperatures drop, no two pieces of equipment are more valuable than Merino wool gaiters and balaclavas. With dozens of ways to wear, they are must-have cold-weather accessories.

And when the temperature begins to freeze, Merino wool truly shines. Its natural properties make Merino one of the most sought-after materials for skiers, snowboarders, ice climbers, snowmobilers, or anyone who wants to enjoy the beauty of winter in comfort and warmth.

Although finding the right gaiter or balaclava that fits your specific needs can be challenging. That’s where we come in. At Merino Wool Gear, we are dedicated to helping you find your perfect Merino wool clothing.

Today, we’ll help you find your best Merino wool balaclava and gaiter. Let’s get started!

How To Choose The Best Merino Wool Balaclava For You

Before we get into the best balaclavas & gaiters, let’s look at some of the factors you should consider if you’re interested in getting one. We’ll look closer at functionality, fabric weight, style, and price.

That way, you can find your perfect piece of Merino wool gear!

First, consider how you will use a balaclava or gaiter. You’ll want something warm and windproof if you need it for the ski slopes. However, if you need a gaiter for hiking, biking, or running, you’ll need something breathable, moisture-wicking, and more lightweight.

I usually opt for a neck gaiter since it’s lightweight, easy to pack, and you can wear it a dozen different ways. And to me, this versatility goes hand-in-hand with functionality. Check out some of the ways you can wear Merino wool gaiter below.

12 Different Ways To Wear A Buff

To sum up, only buy a balaclava or gaiter with an understanding of how you will use it. I don’t want you to waste money on something you’ll never use!

Merino wool balaclavas come in various thicknesses, so understanding the different fabric weights (grams per square meter or gsm) is essential to finding the right gear for you. Heavyweight balaclavas (300+ gsm) will keep you much warmer than lightweight balaclavas (<160 gsm) but won’t breathe as well. To better understand which fabric weights work at which temperatures, check out the graphic from Minus33 below.

Merino Wool Layering Chart From Minus33

I prefer a lighter or midweight option for a balaclava since it usually works with an already-warm beanie. However, if you’re using your balaclava in Arctic conditions, the higher the gsm, the better.

Varioius Merino Wool Balaclava Styles

We’ll cover three main styles of balaclava today: neck gaiters, full-face balaclavas (standard ‘face hole’), and hinged balaclavas. Each has unique features and properties, so choosing which style works best for you is up to you.

Merino wool gear, in general, is expensive. It’s one of the few downsides of Merino! If you are looking for a Merino wool gaiter or balaclava, you should understand the various price points because a higher price doesn’t necessarily mean higher quality.

That’s why we do what we do! You don’t have to sift through all the junk; we did that for you. The Merino wool gaiters and balaclavas you’ll see today, no matter the price, are worth every penny.

Editor’s Choice: Best Merino Wool Gaiter

Lightweight Merino Wool Buff

Pros: Most versatile accessory (ever?) | Featherlight fabric weight | Over a dozen ways to wear

Cons: Prone to snags & tears | Fabric may weaken over time with improper care

I’m a Buff buff through and through. It’s what got me started on my Merino wool journey! Nearly six years ago, I stumbled upon an REI sale, and more than half a decade later, Merino Wool Gear is where people like you come to find the best that Merino wool offers.

Anyway, this isn’t about me; it’s about this Buff! Seriously, I can’t stress enough how much I love mine. At 125 gsm, it’s featherlight but still packs a punch in the warmth department; I get full 4-season use out of mine. And, since it’s 100% Merino wool, it feels super soft. Like “my neck is wrapped in a cloud” soft.

But you don’t just have to wear it around your neck. You can twist it into a beanie, fashion a full-face balaclava, or, my favorite, the airplane sleep mask. It’s the most versatile piece of Merino wool gear that I own.

However, you must properly care for it to get the most use out of it. After six years, my Merino wool buff has about as many battle scars. A stitch here, a minor tear there, that sort of thing. It doesn’t stop me from wearing it daily, but it’s worth noting.

Finally, I can’t say enough good things about this lightweight Merino wool Buff. It’s what started it all! Why would we not give it the top spot on our list?

Best Merino Wool Balaclava

Icebreaker Apex Balaclava

Icebreaker Apex Balaclava

Pros: Warmth-to-weight ratio | Fantastic durability | Ventilation flap

Cons: Expensive | May not fit all head shapes

If you need more coverage than a gaiter can provide, a Merino wool balaclava is your next best choice. And my favorite one is the Icebreaker Apex Balaclava. With a relaxed, comfortable fit, this accessory is perfect for layering under hats or helmets.

Although, by itself, it’s not the warmest. At 200 gsm, the midweight fabric adds warmth to an already-existing setup. It’s just that extra layer of protection that you need to get a few more runs before the last call on the chairlift.

Unlike some of the 100% Merino wool balaclavas, Icebreaker uses a wool-synthetic blend for extra strength and stretch. And in combination with the ventilation flap, the material manages your moisture levels.

The Icebreaker Apex Balaclava is a must-have for winter sports enthusiasts and cold-weather runners. Yes, it’s expensive. But, as with all Icebreaker gear – it’s worth every penny. Head to Icebreaker below and see if the Apex balaclava suits you.

Best Merino Wool Balaclava For Skiing

Meriwool Full Ski Mask Balaclava

Pros: Extended neck length | Ventilation flap | Relatively affordable

Cons: Minimal versatility | Initial itchiness may occur

When you’re out on the mountain, active warmth is a must. Your gear should regulate your temperature and manage your moisture levels. One unique piece of equipment that does that is the Meriwool full ski mask balaclava.

What makes this piece unique is the extra long length. Meriwool designed the material to drape over your shoulders and tuck underneath your ski jacket. That way, you seal off any drafts or cold spots before they even form! And the hinged design allows you to adjust the ‘face hole‘ under your ski helmet and goggles. It may seem minor but it creates a more comfortable fit in the long run.

Finally, this Meriwool balaclava is super affordable for what you’re getting. It’s half a Merino wool hoodie for less than a quarter of the price. So, if you need extra protection next time you hit the slopes, grab this Meriwool 100% Merino wool balaclava.

Best Merino Wool Neck Gaiter For Running

Smartwool Unisex Merino 250 Gaiter

Smartwool Unisex 250 Gaiter

Pros: Double-layered construction | Supersoft | Surprisingly breathable

Cons: May be too short for some | Sizing discrepancies

A classic piece from a trusted Merino wool brand, the Smartwool Merino 250 gaiter is a must-have for four-season runners. The midweight fabric is warm yet breathable. Plus, you can wear it in whichever way you can imagine. It’s just another one of those versatile pieces of Merino wool gear.

What sets this gaiter apart from the others is the shorter length. Smartwool uses a reduced size, which creates a lighter gaiter overall (only 0.71 oz). However, this means there is less coverage than longer gaiters. Luckily, if you’re looking for something longer, Smartwool offers other gaiter styles.

In addition to the shorter length, some users report that the fit is too snug around the neck. I haven’t experienced this issue, but that’s because mine has stretched over time.

Still, if you’re a runner looking for extra protection on those brisk winter jogs, the Smartwool 250 gaiter should be your top choice. And if you’re looking for more badass Merino wool running gear, Smartwool has an entire collection! Check out their industry-leading Merino wool performance apparel below!

Best Balaclava For Extreme Cold

Minus33 Expedition Merino Wool Balaclava

Minus33 Expedition Weight Merino Wool Balaclava Olive

Pros: Perfect for subzero conditions | Warm, high-quality material | Ideal for winter sports

Cons: Expensive for a balaclava | Style may not work for everyone

Snow, sleet, and wind, this balaclava will keep your head toasty no matter the conditions. Minus33 uses their popular expedition weight material (400 gsm), making it one of the warmest balaclavas on our list. Still, if you think the heavyweight option will be too hot, opt for the more breathable midweight option.

Outside of the insane temperature regulation properties, this Merino wool balaclava is super comfy. The material is an ultrasoft, 17.5-micron Merino wool fiber construction. There are even flatlock seams to prevent rubbing and chafing. In other words, your head will be toasty and cozy, no matter the conditions.

The Minus33 expedition balaclava is just one warm, comfy balaclava perfect for snowmobiling, skiing, snowboarding, or anything that requires you to be in subzero conditions for an extended period. Head to Minus33 below to learn more and see if it works for you!

Best Merino Wool Gaiter For Commuters

Wool & Prince Neck Gaiter

Wool and Prince Neck Gaiter Light Gray

Pros: Clean, professional style | Durable fabric | Versatile design

Cons: Shorter length | Limited color options

If you’re battling the elements daily, you’ve got to have the gear to protect you. Although, you don’t want to look like you’re going on a hike every morning. This Wool & Prince gaiter has a slightly more professional look, making it the best option for commuters.

One of the reasons this gaiter looks so clean and professional is the high-quality material. Wool & Prince uses a nearly 50-50 wool-synthetic blend for added strength for daily use. There’s even a touch of spandex for increased stretch and recovery.

Although, when you see Merino wool of this quality, it typically comes at a price. That’s the case with this Wool & Prince neck gaiter. It’s nearly double the price of some of the other Merino wool neck gaiters on our list. However, the high price tag is worth the quality and style, primarily if you use it daily.

Finally, this gaiter is just as versatile as any other. You can wear it as a scarf, beanie, headband, sleep mask, hood, etc. Just keep it in your work bag and bust it out whenever needed!

Best Merino Wool Balaclava For Hunting

Kuiu Ultra Merino 145 Balaclava

Kuiu Ultra Merino 145 Balaclava

Pros: Comfortable clamshell construction | Ventilation design | Camouflage patterns

Cons: Super expensive | Not the warmest balaclava on the list

If you’re planning on punching a tag this year, you’ll need gear that gives you an advantage. For example, this Kuiu Ultra Merino 145 balaclava – which comes in three unique camouflage patterns – will keep you warm and dry up in the tree stand for an hour or two. And, as all hunters know, waiting just a little longer can make all the difference.

Kuiu uses a specialized material called Nuyarn Merino. It’s 90% Merino wool & 10% nylon, adding strength and durability without hindering wool’s beneficial breathability, odor-resistance, and temperature regulation properties.

Although, at 145 gsm, this fabric is ultralight. That’s not to say it’s not warm, as wearing it will add about 15-20 degrees of warmth to any setup. However, I’d opt for a heavier fabric weight if you are hunting in subzero conditions.

So, before you head out hunting this season, check out this balaclava and the other incredible Merino wool hunting apparel that Kuiu offers. It may just be the edge you need in the backcountry!

Best Budget Merino Wool Gaiter

Acushla 100% Merino Wool Gaiter

Pros: Price-to-quality ratio | Extra long for added warmth & versatility | Multiple colors available

Cons: Initial itchiness may occur | May sag over time

Another Merino wool gaiter: how much more different could this one be? Other than the fact it’s extra long, not much! It’s the same Merino wool gaiter as some other brands but at a lower price!

The 100% Merino wool material may not feel as soft as other brands, but this Acushla gaiter is still comfortable. I like the extra-long length, as it creates a unique layered construction. However, the extended design may cause the fabric to sag or look lackluster over time.

Overall, this gaiter does what all the other Merino wool gaiters do, but at a cheaper price. Yes, there are better products out there. But at this price-to-quality ratio, and with eight color options to choose from, how could you resist such a great deal?

Final Note About Merino Wool Gaiters & Balaclavas

The search for the perfect pair of slippers is an elusive one. Sure, you may have found a pair you like, but a few months later, a hole in the toe or a worn-out sole gives you pain as you mosey around the house.

Slippers are meant to protect my feet and regulate their temperature. They keep your feet dry and at the same temperature as the rest of your body. It’s like the best pair of slippers are the ones that you don’t even notice.

And, the best slippers – in my not-so-expert opinion – are always made with Merino wool!

So, being Merino wool gear, we decided to round up eight of our favorite Merino wool slippers so you can prep for the chillier parts of the year. From modern house shoes to fuzzy slides, there’s bound to be a style for everyone!

Merino Wool Slippers: What Should You Consider?

As I just said, finding your perfect pair of Merino wool slippers can be challenging. And, since some house shoes can be expensive, you’ll want to know what you get when you buy.

So, I’ve broken down some key categories to consider while shopping for the comfiest, coziest, best slippers for your feet! There are four categories: usage, comfort, warmth, and style. Let’s take a quick look at each!

Various Merino Wool Slipper Styles Side-by-side

I know it’s a simple question, but you should always ask yourself: “How will I use these slippers?” Sometimes, we see a wild feature or a sleek design and get caught up in the hype.

But remember why you needed slippers in the first place, whatever that reason may be, because it’s different for everyone. Are you going to wear them both inside and outside? What about on the couch? Would a simple pair of socks work instead?

My advice is to ignore the hype and focus on what you need for your daily life. And when you do that, things fall into place.

I like my Merino wool slippers to be supportive around the foot but still leave room to breathe. They should feel soft but firm on my feet, like a reassuring hug from a loved one. They shouldn’t feel like someone strapped cement blocks to my feet. It’s my home. I am entitled to comfort!

Luckily, Merino wool is the leader in the comfort world. With superfine fibers, your feet will feel like they’re embraced by a cloud. And, since Merino wool is breathable and odor-resistant, your slippers should stay dry and stink-free after multiple wears.

Three Merino Sheep

Treading barefoot in an early 20th-century house can feel like walking on an ice skating rink. I may be bundled up top, but if my pretty footsies are skin-to-skin against the vinyl, then I will be cold.

But, no matter how warm my slippers feel at first, they must be in the game for the long haul, meaning keep my nasty feet dry, too. If my feet sweat because of the excessive heat retention, I will get cold again.

And, just like Merino sheep who have to withstand harsh conditions, Merino wool slippers offer ultimate warmth by trapping warm air and managing your microclimate’s humidity. It’s just another remarkable property of Merino wool – thanks a lot, sheep!

Various Styles of Greys Outdoor Wool Slippers

For me, slippers should slip, end of story. I don’t like the style with heels because then I have to bend over and actually put them on like shoes, and when I take them off, I have to do the same. I’d rather kick off my slippers when I’m done with them, let them sit, and know they will be slipped back on when their time comes.

But my ankles get cold, so I switch to slipper boots during the winter months.

In your case, you may like clogs. You may like boots. Heck, you even want slipper socks. Who knows? You, that’s who! By discovering your style and needs, choosing your perfect Merino wool slipper will be much easier.

Editor’s Choice: Best Merino Wool Slippers

Kyrgies Tengries Walkabouts

Kyrgies Tengries Walkabout Merino Wool Slippers

Pros: Fantastic style & versatility | Unique slipper design | Indoor-Outdoor use

Cons: Sizing discrepancies | Keep uppers away from water

Traditional Merino wool slippers are famous for their warmth, versatility, and sheer comfort. You have to imagine that people have been making slippers with natural materials like wool felt for centuries, so the process is fine-tuned. One slipper that meshes this traditional craft with a modern design is the Kyrgies Tengries Walkabouts. Handcrafted by artisans in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan (hence the brand, Kyrgies), these Merino wool slippers are my favorite!

The style reminds me of cozy cabin slippers. You can easily slip them on and off with the unique closure, and the design truly hugs your foot. Since these slippers are the “walkabout” version as opposed to the original ones, there is a rubber crepe-style sole for indoor-outdoor use. So, you get the extra grip from the sole texture, and the rubber also provides water resistance.

Despite the vulcanized rubber soles, you’ll still want to avoid getting the Merino wool uppers wet and dirty. As these are hand-felted, they could fall apart if you don’t correctly care about them. However, if you follow the essential cleaning tips, these slippers will last years!

To sum up, the Kyrgies Tengries Walkabout is a fantastic, comfy, versatile Merino wool slipper. No wonder they’re my favorite! Kyrgies offers this style for both men & women in plenty of satisfying colors, so be sure to check them out today!

Runner-Up: Best Merino Wool Slippers

Nootkas Astoria Wool House Slippers

Nootkas Astoria Wool House Shoes Womens Heather Gray

Pros: Classic slipper design | High-density cushioning | All-natural materials

Cons: Not great for narrow feet | May need to break in

If you’re looking for a solid, reliable pair of wool slides, look no further than the Nootka Astoria Slippers. Slip them on when it’s cold, and kick them off before bed. Nootkas handcrafts these slippers in Nepal using 100% mulesing-free New Zealand Merino wool. They have traveled worldwide to bring you ultimate comfort at home!

While these may look like any other pair of slippers, they have additional features to improve your slipper-wearing experience. For one, the padded wool midsole offers extra cushioning and support. Next, the suede sole performs well on carpet and wood floors (indoor use only) and ages well over time. Moreover, the zero-drop heel design gives you better posture and alignment, preventing any nagging injuries from coming back. These slippers genuinely do have it all!

Still, the slide-style slipper may only work for some. You may opt for a different style if you have narrow feet or cold ankles (yes, it’s a real thing). But, if you’re sold on these Nootkas Astoria slides – which have separate designs for men & women – be sure to head over to Nootkas to learn more!

Most Comfortable Merino Wool Slippers

Baabuk Mel Slippers

Baabuk Mel Slippers Bourdeaux

Pros: Expertly designed | Extra insole padding | Unique color options

Cons: Susceptible to wear & tear | Must clean with care

Another Merino wool slipper, another cloud of Merino, the Baabuk Mel Slippers are the most comfortable pair on this list! Like the Astoria slippers, Baabuk uses 100% New Zealand Merino wool handfelted in Nepal. Although, they are designed in Switzerland specifically to weather the snowy winters of the Alps. And if these slippers will keep you warm & comfy in a snowed-in cabin, they sure as heck will be warm & cozy at home.

Still, comfort is just as much about style since when you look good, you feel good! And, since these Baabuk Mel slippers come in 9 vibrant colors – including bright pink, bottle green, & classic vanilla – you can make a fashion statement around the house.

While all these factors – including the padded wool mid soles and latex outsoles – contribute to the comfort level, the amount of cleaning does not. As these wool slippers are handcrafted, they are more susceptible to wear and tear, so you should clean them often. Although this cleaning process can be meticulous, it will become a part of your daily routine with the proper Merino wool care products.

Finally, size them right if you’re interested in these Mel slippers. The molded heel cup may irritate if it is too big or small. And, while the low-heel height is best, Baabuk offers different height slippers (Kanga – slides, Yves – Boot). So, whatever style suits you, Baabuk has a slipper for you!

Most Stylish Merino Wool Slippers

Giesswein Vent Slippers

Pros: Replaceable footbed | Extra cushioning | Cinching cord

Cons: May wear down with outdoor use | Potential manufacturing defects

While traditional Merino wool slippers have unique vibes, I tend toward modern slipper designs. Something about them has a more versatile, functional style. My everyday go-to slippers, the ones I don’t mind showing off to house guests, are the Giesswein Vent slippers.

The one style feature I love is the cinch cord around the ankle. I can tighten these shoes on super chilly days when walking the dog or loosen them up in couch-potato mode. It’s a function you don’t usually get with other wool slippers, and I’m here for it.

And forget about style; these slippers were designed with high-performing features. As the “Vent” name suggests, they are super breathable. That way – combined with the waterproof rubber sole – you can wear it for indoor-outdoor use, and your feet will stay dry. Moreover, since there’s an exchangeable footbed and 18-mm heel blast for impact reduction, they’ll take a long time to wear out. Still, if you’re really beating them up, you will decrease their wear life.

Stylish, comfortable, and functional, the Giesswein Vents are an excellent choice for anyone looking to add fashion to their at-home look. I own a pair and trust the guy who eats, sleeps, and breathes Merino wool – you should get a pair, too!

Best Merino Wool Slipper For Outdoor Use

Greys Wool Outdoor Slipper

Greys Wool Outdoor Slipper Boot Navy

Pros: Fantastic style & versatility | Easy to slip on & off | Two other heights available

Cons: Too popular (often sold out) | Sizing discrepancies

If you’re constantly in and out of the house, gardening, picking up the mail, and walking the dog, you could use a solid pair of weatherproof house shoes. My favorite is the Grey’s Wool Outdoor Boot. Not only are they comfy and versatile, but they look so good your neighbors will be jealous.

And while I call these slippers, they are more ‘shoe‘ than ‘slipper.’ The waterproof, ultra-grippy rubber sole works just as well as a sneaker outsole. However, weather protection extends to the toe box with these slippers. So you can avoid stubbed toes. That’s a unique design feature if I’ve ever seen one!

My favorite style is the boot, as the pull-tab is easy to use, and I prefer a little extra warmth around my ankles. However, Greys offers these shoes in two lower heel heights if that’s more your speed: mule & slipper.

Although these are super popular, they take time to come by. So, if you see a size, color, and style that suits you, get them before they sell out!

Best Indoor-Only Merino Wool Slippers

Smartwool Hudson Trail Slippers

Smartwool Hudson Trail Merino Wool Slippers Blue

Pros: Comfy boot design | Rolltop for double-layer warmth | Blended fabric for durability

Cons: Only one color | Limited availability

If you’re a slippers-on-the-couch type, these cozy Hudson Trail slippers are a must-have. The roll-top boot design – in combination with the wool shell & liner – creates a warm, dry environment for your feet. And since they are a flexible knit, you can curl up on the couch any way you want!

When you get up to grab the whole carton of ice cream from the freezer, the thick padded outsole will cushion you all the way to the kitchen. A subtle feature of these Merino wool slippers that I love is the non-slip grip. It’s these little additions that make Smartwool gear so desirable.

Unfortunately, the Hudson Trail slippers are popular; many sizes and color options are out of stock. Hopefully, Smartwool releases more options this holiday season because I’ve seen my wife eyeing them!

Finally, these aren’t pure wool uppers. Instead, it’s wool-synthetic in a 9:1 ratio. The extra addition of synthetic material increases the slipper’s durability, so it doesn’t unravel on every crappy doorframe. It’s another minor feature that makes the Smartwool Hudson Trail Slippers one of our favorites. Get yours today!

Best Merino Wool Slippers For Travel

Bombas Gripper Slipper

Bombas Men's Gripper Slipper

Pros: Super cozy foot feel | Relatively affordable | Comes with travel bag

Cons: Not as ‘grippy’ as expected | May wear with heavy use

If you’re always on the go, it’s hard to pack a pair of felted slippers in your carry-on. So, the Bombas Gripper Slipper is one of the best options for comfort away from home.

This half-sock, half-slipper, all-amazing footwear is ultra-versatile. The interior has a soft, brushed lining and cushioned footbed, maximizing next-to-skin comfort. And, as these socks come with their own travel bag, it’s much easier to take them on the road, whether for work, family, or fun!

As the name suggests, these are a “gripper” slipper. But the grips aren’t as grippy as I’d expect. Even Bombas notes on their site that “they’re not magic” and “practice good coordination out there.” Or, you could be like me and barely ever leave the couch. You can’t slip if you don’t move!

Anyways, you’ve got to give these Bombas Gripper Slippers a try. They are a unique product that comes in several colors and will provide home-like comfort far away from home. And at such an affordable price, your feet wouldn’t forgive you if you passed them up!

Best Merino Wool Boot Slippers

Glerups Model G Boot

Pros: Top-notch warmth | Minimalist design | Multiple colors available

Cons: May initially shed | Potential manufacturing defects

My ankles get cold, like all the time. So, during the winter, I opt for a high-top Merino wool slipper like this Glerups Model G Boot. The minimalist, traditional slipper design is excellent for any situation. Heck, these could even be your slippers for the office!

And yes, these Merino wool slipper boots are expensive (one of the downsides of Merino wool). But there’s a reason: the high-quality materials. Glerups uses 100% pure natural wool in the upper, hugging the contours of your foot. In addition, the calf-skin soles (apparently tanned with vegetable oil) will give these slippers years of durability. It’s a classic design crafted with some of the world’s best materials, and you’re paying for it. That’s how it works!

Unfortunately, if you add these boots to your closet, you may have to deal with some initial shedding. This is common with felted uppers and actually increases the strength of the fabric in the long run. Still, it can be a site for sore eyes when you see your pricey new slippers shedding on the floor! But that’ll stop after a few wears, and everything should be good to go!

Final Note About Merino Wool Slippers

Putting on my Merino wool slippers at the end of the day signifies that I’m done; the day is over. I can turn my brain off and relax, knowing that I’m in the protection of my home.

Because, in essence, that’s what slippers are: protection for my feet. Protection from stepping on errant legos. Protection from an outdated heating system. Pure, comfy protection for my hard-working feet.

And that’s why Merino wool slippers are the best; they protect my feet and make them feel amazing!

Whether you’re a construction worker, a nurse, or a teacher, you know that working long hours on your feet can be tricky. Even office workers need to take care of their feet. That’s why good socks are essential to keep your feet comfortable and dry at work. Merino wool is the perfect material for work socks because it’s naturally moisture-wicking, odor-resistant, and durable.

And, since our mission at Merino Wool Gear is to help you discover your ideal Merino wool clothing, we decided to dip our toes in the water cooler with the best Merino wool socks for work!

We’ll cover everything from professional dress socks to performance socks for work boots and everything in between. And we’ll review some of the must-know buying criteria if you want to get a pair for yourself!

What To Look For: Merino Wool Socks For Work

Before diving into our favorite Merino wool work socks, I want you to understand the buying landscape better. A sock that works for me may not work for you, and vice versa. So, I’ve condensed what to look for into five major categories: Merino wool composition, fabric weight, cushioning, style, and price.

Let’s take a closer look at each.

Unfortunately, 100% Merino wool socks are not a real thing. Merino can be delicate and can’t withstand a typical sock’s stress and strain. In other words, you would get holes after just a few wears.

So, to strengthen the sock, most brands will blend nylon, polyester, spandex (elastane), and other fibers into the material. Therefore, you get a more durable, high-performance sock while maintaining the beneficial natural properties of Merino wool.

Darn Tough Yarn Usage By yarn Type

Still, the ‘perfect ratio‘ of fibers is up for debate. You can see Darn Tough’s usage by fiber type, but every brand is different. Just understand that the higher the Merino wool percentage, the softer and more odor-resistant the fabric. Conversely, socks with lower Merino wool percentages are more durable and may dry out quicker.

Ultimately, the decision is up to you and how you plan on using the socks. At least make sure there’s a bit of Merino wool in them!

It can be challenging to gauge the thickness of Merino wool socks. Heavyweight for one brand may be midweight for another.

I’ll do my best to normalize these fabric weights – ultralight, lightweight, etc. – but it’s always best to double-check before you buy. Minus33 has put together an excellent guide for fabric clothing weights. It’s different from socks, but it gives you a better idea of Merino wool’s functionality.

Merino Wool Layering Chart From Minus33

You may need a sock with added cushioning if you’re on your feet all day. Some brands will use terry loops (the texture of a bath towel) underfoot for impact reduction. Others opt for a targeted cushioning approach, adding padding at hot points throughout the sock for eight hours of comfort.

If you want padded Merino wool socks, understand they can sometimes be bulkier than those without padding. For some tight-fitting work boots, this may be a problem. So, I usually avoid padded socks, but it’s your call. You’re the only one who knows what your feet need!

Work socks – especially made of Merino wool – come in all shapes, colors, patterns, heights, and styles. The versatility of the fabric allows it to blend into athletic socks, dress socks, ski socks, and so many more. And it doesn’t matter which type of sock you wear to work, as long as it fits your style.

Still, you want to avoid wearing heavyweight boot socks during the summer, so consider a sock’s versatility when browsing. For example, you may like an over-the-calf style sock for work, but you may not be able to wear it anywhere else. Is it worth spending money on? Should you opt for the crew height instead?

One of the typical style mistakes that newbies make is not choosing the right sock height. Here’s another quick guide from Darn Tough (and our to better visualize how tall these socks may be.

Some Merino wool socks will be expensive compared to your average pair of work socks. Unfortunately, the high price tag is one of the downsides of Merino woolDid you think you would get all-day comfort for cheap?

The best advice I can give on price is understanding why those socks cost so much. Is it the technical design? High-quality material? Or is it because there is an unconditional lifetime guarantee?

Within my top picks of Merino wool socks for work, I span the price spectrum, so there’s something for everybody. And I can tell you from experience that these picks are worth the price!

Editor’s Choice: Merino Wool Socks For Work

Boardroom Socks: Merino Wool OTC Dress Socks

Boardroom Patterned Merino Wool Dress Socks

Pros: Professional style & patterns | Excellent moisture management | Relatively affordable

Cons: Not as odor-resistant as others | Limited versatility

At first glance, these may look like your typical dress socks. And here’s the thing: that’s what they areyour usual dress socks but with the beneficial properties of Merino wool! These socks are lightweight, soft, breathable, temperature-regulating, and odor-resistant! It’s just an athletic sock disguised in a white collar.

What I love the most about these socks is their style. They embody the brand Boardroom Socks, as I feel like a big shot whenever I wear them to work. They help me look good by completing the overall outfit, which weirdly allows me to perform better.

I have three pairs of Boardroom socks – charcoal with pink polka dots, khaki with square knots, and navy with little American flags – so I prefer the patterned style. Yet there are plenty of patterns, including a handful of single-color types. You can get them over-the-calf height as pictured or opt for a lower crew. There are just so many options!

Which style is your favorite? Let us know in the comments!

Best Budget Merino Wool Socks For Work

Danish Endurance: Merino Wool Dress Socks (3-Pack)

Pros: Fantastic price-to-quality ratio | Super breathable | Made for work, by athletes

Cons: Longterm durability concerns | Sock height discrepancies

There’s no getting around it: Merino wool socks can be expensive. And while I genuinely believe most of the gear is priced accordingly, spending $20+ on socks may border on clinical insanity. Still, there are brands out there, like Danish Endurance, that offer high-quality socks for less than $10 per pair (3-Pack).

You may think: “Aren’t they ‘worse’ than more expensive socks?” Well, not exactly. They tend to wear down faster (a couple of years), but they are worth it. And it’s not like this is some random sock brand. Danish Endurance was formed by and for Olympic athletes to utilize natural fabric for performance. So, while you may be paying less, you’re still getting an everyday sock with technical athletic properties!

Danish Endurance calls these socks a “must-have that [blends] comfort and class,” and I couldn’t agree more. I particularly like the 3/4 height and business casual style. Still, they also have many other designs, fabric weights, and more, so check out the entire collection of what Danish Endurance offers. Or if you’re already digging this three-pack, check them out below.

Most Versatile Merino Wool Work Socks

Western Rise: Strongcore Merino Socks

Western Rise Strongcore Merino Socks Crew Gray

Pros: Top-notch comfort & versatility | High-quality materials | Enhanced durability

Cons: Limited color & size availability | Possible ankle slippage

Initially designed for travel, the Western Rise Strongcore Merino Wool Socks are versatile everyday socks. These lightweight crews (also available as ankle socks) are perfect for those bouncing from place to place during the workday. And when you hit the gym at the end of the day, you can wear the same socks! They, indeed, are “the one sock for every occasion.”

The secret to this versatility lies in the sock material itself. Western Rise utilizes its StrongCore yarn – a soft but hearty blend of 18.5-micron wool and synthetics – to create a comfortable, durable sock. And, since nearly 30% of the material consists of elastane, these socks have excellent stretch and recovery.

So, if you’re looking for that go-to sock that supports your daily adventures, no matter how chaotic they may be, you’ve got to try these Strongcore socks. And, if you want to complete your work outfit with professional Merino wool clothing, check out Western Rise’s Merino collections (the Limitless Button-Up is my favorite).

Best Merino Wool Socks For Work Boots

Darn Tough: Steely Midweight Boot Sock

Darn Tough Merino Wool Work Sock Black

Pros: 360° cushioning | Stay-put performance fit | Unconditional lifetime guarantee

Cons: Fit may feel too snug for some | On the pricier side

If you’ve read any of our reviews before, you know we are huge Darn Tough fans here at Merino Wool Gear, and for good reason! They create some of the highest quality, most comfortable, and amazingly durable Merino wool socks on the market. What’s not to love? One of their most popular designs – The Steely Full Cushion Boot Sock – exemplifies Darn Tough’s dominance in the industry.

This is one Darn Tough boot sock for one Darn Tough worker. Just look at some of these features:

  • Full 360° cushioning throughout the sock
  • Ribbed-knit cuffs and performance fit reduce slippage
  • Achilles cushion reinforced footbed
  • Toe box cushion for steel-toed boots

However, due to these high-quality materials and technical features, this pair will cost you more than your average boot sock. Still, with a literal unconditional lifetime guarantee, when you buy these socks, you buy them for life. Whenever (if ever) they wear out for any reason, follow Darn Tough’s warranty process on their site. And if you get a couple of pairs, you’ll never have to buy Merino wool socks for your work boots again!

Needless to say, you can’t go wrong with these Steely Boot Socks – or any pair of Darn Tough Merino wool socks, for that matter. Learn more about these socks below!

Best Padded Socks For Work Boots

Farm to Feet: Damascus 3/4 Crew

Farm to Feet Damascus Lightweight 3/4 Crew

Pros: Targeted cushioning & padding | Engineered vents | 100% Made in USA

Cons: Not the most versatile style | Not for freezing conditions

Initially designed for multi-day hiking trips, the Farm to Feet Damascus is also an excellent pair for day-to-day use. Using a slightly thicker Merino wool fiber (19.5 microns), these socks are more durable than other pairs but don’t sacrifice comfort.

Outside the soft Merino wool, Farm to Feet has engineered this sock to keep you comfortable no matter what the workday throws your way. For starters, extra padding and cushioning along potential rub points will protect your feet from stiff work shoes (especially work boots). Moreover, there is additional venting that regulates your foot’s moisture. So, not only will it feel like you’re walking on a bed of clouds, but your feet will stay dry the whole time!

Finally, the Farm to Feet Damascus should be your top choice if you require padding and cushioning to get your feet through the day. And since this sock’s primary purpose is hiking, some unique color options exist. From lime green to bright pink, classic gray to maroon, there’s a style for you!

Best Merino Wool Liner Socks For Work

Smartwool: Everyday Anchor Line Zero Cushion

Smartwool Everday Zero Cushion Anchor Socks

Pros: Minimalist construction | Suited for warm climates | Reputable Merino wool brand

Cons: May form holes with improper care | Fit discrepancies

In the world of Merino wool, Smartwool is one of the most reputable brands out there. They’ve continued to make high-quality Merino wool socks and clothing for over a decade. Regarding Merino wool socks for work, our favorite Smartwool offering is the Everyday Anchor Liner Crew socks.

The best part of these socks is that they are super simple. There are no bells or whistles, surprise features, or anything unique. It’s just one minimalist sock!

It’s technically a Merino wool liner sock, meaning it works best paired with a heavier sock over the top for extra warmth. However, since the fabric is so ultralight and breathable, I find liner socks – especially this Smartwool Everyday Anchor Liner – ideal for summer workwear. Still, if you don’t take proper care of them, the thinner fabric may wear down more quickly.

These Merino wool liner socks for work – which almost have a stocking-like vibe – may not work for everyone. I get it! Smartwool gets it, too! That’s why they’ve created a Sock Finder Tool so you can discover your perfect pair of Smartwool socks. Try it or learn more about the Everyday Anchor Liner socks below!

Best Merino Wool Socks For Commuters

Mission Workshop: Mission Pro Wool Socks

Mission Pro Wool Socks Purple

Pros: Secure ribbed-knit ankle | Strong yet soft material | Temperature regulation

Cons: Low Merino percentage | Expensive

Whether biking, walking, or catching the bus to work, commuting can be a drag. And while these Mission Pro Wool socks may not cure a crappy commute, they can at least keep your feet comfy and dry. That’s a win.

Despite only one-third Merino wool, these socks have enhanced odor-resistant properties. So, if you’re caught in a rainstorm or pedaling through a heatwave, you can be sure that your socks will stay fresh once you get to the office. Still, you may have to allow them to air out if you pedal like a menace.

In addition to the Merino wool, Mission Workshop uses some synthetics, like nylon, acrylic, and elastane, to provide strength and elasticity. These synthetics add extra stretch and recovery to the material, so they maintain their shape over time. Moreover, the relaxed fit doesn’t restrict your movement, and the ribbed cuff helps to keep the socks in place.

Finally, these Mission Pro Wool Socks come in half a dozen colors, so there’s bound to be one that matches your daily outfit. And if you want to make a fashion statement, why not go with the bright purple? I sure did!

Best Merino Wool Socks For Work Trips

Unbound Merino: All-Season Crew Socks

Unbound Merino Mens All Season Crew Socks Black

Pros: Versatile all-weather travel socks | Largest Merino percentage | Bundle & save

Cons: Manufacturing discrepancies | Minimal color options

Work trips are an opportunity to explore a new city without being bogged down with luggage! So packing light is key whenever I travel. One of our favorite Merino wool travel brands – Unbound Merino – makes an all-season crew sock ready to withstand the headache of traveling for work.

The unique thing about these socks is their high Merino wool percentage. At 4/5, it’s the highest wool ratio on this list. They are softer and more odor-resistant, perfect for wearing multiple times without washing. And, since Merino wool is such a great temperature regulator, these socks have ultimate four-season use.

Still, more Merino wool can sometimes lead to less durability. However, these socks buck the trend, as they are as strong as other options. This innovation and design makes Unbound Merino one of the highest-quality Merino wool brands I’ve tried!

I prefer the crew sock height when on the road since I can mix & match it with work outfits. However, ankle and no-show heights are available for those who prefer a lower profile. And, if you want to stock up on these socks, make sure to bundle. Heck, if you grab a 10-pack, you can save big!

Best Merino Wool Sock Bundles

Speaking of bundling and saving, many brands offer multi-pack socks (many with customizable colors & patterns) so you can refurbish your wardrobe. Let’s cover a solid 3-pack, 4-pack, and 5-pack that will save you big and make your workdays much easier.

Wool & Prince: Everyday Socks Bundle (3-Pack)

Wool and Prince Merino Wool Sock Bundle

Pros: Improved Durability | Simple, polished look | Excellent deal

Cons: Tight fit | Limited color options

I’m a hybrid worker; for three days, I’m in the office, and for two days, I work from home. I only need three pairs of work socks, nothing too flashy, just something fresh each day. If you have a similar schedule, grab a 3-pack of Merino wool socks for work. And one of my favorite sock bundles comes courtesy of Wool & Prince.

Despite their innovation with professional Merino wool clothing, Wool & Prince sticks to the basics with these socks. They are a durable Merino wool blend with a breathable everyday weight. No patterns and nothing special. Just solid, reliable socks.

And since you’re bundling, you get a decent amount of savings. If you look at the price on a per-pair basis, it’s definitely in the bottom third of this list. However, with a practical design, high-quality materials, and a trusted brand name, these Wool & Prince socks are on the top third of my list!

So, whether you only need work socks or want to expand your office wardrobe, Wool & Prince should be one of the leading brands. Check out the socks below or browse their Merino wool workwear collection!

Bonangel: Lightweight Merino Wool Socks (4-Pack)

Pros: Most inexpensive per pair | Classic design | Various styles

Cons: May wear out quickly | Wool percentage discrepancy

If you’re looking for a classic style (I dig the argyle), you’ve got to check out this four-pack from Bonangel. They are our most inexpensive pair of Merino wool dress socks on a per-pair basis!

Still, they don’t cost as much for a reason. Some users have reported holes and tears over time, while others claimed the Merino wool percentage varies from what is on their site. These discrepancies may sound alarming, but it’s standard for Merino wool clothing.

These socks are worth it if you’re working a standard office job. Yes, they will wear out with heavy usage. But this four-pack is hard to resist at such a low price tag. I have yet to try them, but let us know how they performed in the comments if you try them!

Bombas: Merino Wool Blend Knee High Sock (5-Pack)

Bombas Merino Wool Dress Socks 5 Pair

Pros: Super comfy | Performance design features | A pair of socks donated with each purchase

Cons: Sock height discrepancies | Durability concerns

Five stylish socks in five stylish colors, this Bombas five-pack has a sock for each day of the work week!

And while these socks may look simple, they come packed with performance features. There’s a cushioned footbed and seamless toe for maximum comfort. Plus, the knee-high height (which some users disagree with) doesn’t slide or bunch around your ankles. It stays put right there!

Yet the best part about the Bombas Merino wool dress socks is that when you get the bundle, you donate a bundle. Bombas’ One Purchased = One Donated™ program provides socks to homeless shelters worldwide. So when you get five pairs, you’re helping five people who need it.

And if that’s not the spirit of Merino wool, I don’t know what is.

As I walked through the aisles of REI preparing for some Christmas shopping back in 2017, I came across a display of buffs. Merino wool buffs, to be exact.

I heard some of the buzz about Merino wool on backpacking forums – and what Survivor fan hasn’t heard of Buff – but it was the first time I knowingly encountered it at the store. So, I decided to splurge and got a lightweight dark gray Merino wool buff as an early Christmas present to myself!

And that’s how it all started. Six years later, we are the leading Merino wool clothing reviewers worldwide!

None of that would have happened without that Merino wool buff!

More than half a decade later, my weathered Buff is still kicking. It has bounced around Europe, climbed to the top of mountains, and trekked across glaciers. And, as you can imagine, it has the battle scars to prove it.

But even today, it’s become a vital clothing accessory, whether I wear it as a headband, beanie, gaiter, or sleep mask. I keep it in my bag at all times!

So, reviewing the Merino wool buff – my Merino wool buff – almost a decade in the making would only be proper. I’ll go over the good and the bad, then we’ll answer whether or not you should add a Merino wool Buff to your wardrobe.

Who knows? It might even change your life; It sure as hell changed mine.

The Proof

Would I divulge our origin story without proof?! Of course not! Here’s a snapshot from that fateful in-store REI purchase six years ago.

Screenshot of Merino wool buff purchase from REI

Still, that was all just the beginning. Six years later, I’ve taken this Merino wool buff on some once-in-a-lifetime adventures. And I have the pictures to prove it!

Man wearing a Merino wool buff on a glacier

As you can see, I rocked this buff on a winter trip to Iceland. It served as my daily scarf/neckwear. And, when we trekked on Vatnajokull glacier, exploring the ice caves and glacial streams, I used it more as a face mask. It was my first wilderness experience using the Buff, and it didn’t disappoint.

Man sitting on top of Half Dome in Yosemite

A few years later, my wife and I took a trip to Yosemite, hiking to the top of Half-dome (we got lucky in the permit lottery). And you guessed it, the same Merino wool buff wrapped around my wrist the whole time, from struggling up the cables to nearly running into a bear!

Since this hiking trip was during the summer, I didn’t use the buff for warmth but for moisture management. It was a glorified sweat rag, so that’s why I wore it around my wrist. Although I did use it as a gaiter during a few brisk mornings in Yosemite Valley.

The buff still held its own years after getting beat up on a glacier and drenched in sweat on Yosemite. It wasn’t ratty (yet) and still looked great as a beanie. My wife even decided to use it on our trip to Portugal!

From traveling worldwide to everyday life, my Merino wool buff has been with me on every adventure. And six years later, as I take on the new experiences of writing and fatherhood, the same Merino wool buff – My Merino Wool Buff – is still going strong.

The Good

Everything. Everything is good about this buff. It’s the best piece of Merino wool gear you’ll ever find. And I’ll argue with any who says otherwise.

But you don’t want my biased buff affection. You want some actual helpful information!

So, from industry-leading versatility and warmth to packability and utility, let’s dive deeper into the four main reasons why I love my Merino wool buff so much!

12 Different Ways To Wear A Buff

Buffs are made for functionality. They replace a scarf, beanie, balaclava, and any type of headwear you plan on wearing. And if you no longer have hair like I do (I’ve changed a lot in six years), having versatile headwear is a must.

In total, there are about a dozen ways to wear a buff in total. Anyone who tells you anything else is just modifying one of the other ways. Don’t listen to them. Listen to me, the guy with an unhealthy infatuation with his Buff.

  • Classic Gaiter: Always ready for adventure. Quickly transforms into a face mask in cold conditions.
  • Beanie/Hat/Cap: Double-layered insulation, excellent for keeping my bald head warm.
  • Sleep Mask: Get some quality shuteye by blocking out the light during the day. Add noise-canceling for the ultimate napping experience.

My buff is the lightweight version (125 gsm), but I use it in all weather conditions. I wear it hiking in the summer to help keep the sun off my neck and wipe away sweat. And, I wear it as a gaiter in the winter to keep my face and neck warm.

Winter and Summer pictures of couple

This buff has such fantastic temperature regulation properties because of the Merino wool! The process is simple, really: sheep live outside, and their coats need to protect them from the sun, rain, wind, and snow. When that wool becomes a Buff, it has the same natural properties.

Check out our comprehensive benefits guide for a deeper, more scientific explanation of Merino wool’s natural properties.

One rarely mentioned benefit of the Merino wool buff is its packability. It is so lightweight (1.7 oz) and convenient that it will be barely detectable in your bag. You can stuff it in the side of your backpack, tuck it away in your suitcase, or even squeeze it in your pocket. And whenever you need it, it’s ready to go!

A folded Merino wool buff on a bed between two dogs

Plus, if you properly care for your buff, it will stay fresh for years. You can wear it casually or save it for mountain expeditions. It will be an essential piece of gear for all your adventures – just as it’s been with mine.

And, if you want to adventure in style, you should get a couple buffs in different colors. My dark gray one is best for versatility, but there are nearly 20 options, so you can choose the color buff that best works with your wardrobe.

My buff is just that – a buff.

It’s sometimes a gaiter or a balaclava; other times, it’s stuffed away in my day bag. But it’s always there.

It always serves its purpose, whatever the purpose may be that day.

I’m such a big fan of this reliability. In six years, there hasn’t been a situation or adventure where I thought, “Maybe I shouldn’t take my buff.” That’s because it’s the most useful, versatile, functional, and reliable clothing accessory on the market.

The Bad

Honestly, I can’t say anything wrong about this buff. Yes, it’s experienced a few ‘bad days’ – which I’ll go over below – but to call these things “Bad” is a gross misrepresentation.

Still, it’s my website, and I will do it anyway!

Alright, one of the downsides of this buff is its durability. At 125 gsm, it’s the same thickness as ~1.5 pieces of paper! That’s super thin! And as you can imagine, I’ve accumulated some wear and tear over six years of adventure.

In all, there are three observable imperfections. The first was after about two years when I cut the tag off improperly. So, really only two that weren’t my fault.

Merino wool buff holes and tears

But here’s the thing, these imperfections are barely noticeable. And I’d say they give the buff a bit of character. The memories from my travels and adventures – which I call battle scars – give my buff its authenticity. And after over half a decade, I would expect any piece of heavily-worn Merino wool gear to show its wear.

Despite these battle scars, I still wear the same buff. I’m wearing it now as I’m typing! And I intend to keep wearing it, holes in all, until every last thread comes undone.

What do you want me to say?! I absolutely love this thing. I mean, it’s just a tube of Merino wool fabric. Buff can’t really improve anything on it. It’s not like they are going to add extra features anytime soon.

It’s not like they can change the manufacturing process to improve it. The fabric is ideal, the versatility is there, and there are tons of different color options.

The lightweight Merino wool buff is immaculate, and they shouldn’t change a thing.

Should You Get A Merino Wool Buff?

Does a one-legged duck swim in a circle? The obvious answer to both questions is ‘yes.’

You should get a Merino wool buff for yourself, one for your brother, one for your mom, and even one for your neighbor. That’s not a joke; these buffs make excellent gifts since they are affordable and practical.

Now, my buff baby is the lightweight Merino wool version, which is best for daily use. Even in frigid conditions, it works well. Still, if you plan on using the buff mainly for arctic expeditions like heli-skiing in the backcountry or shoveling your driveway, you want to get the midweight version instead.

I get it if you’re still on the fence about getting a Merino wool buff. Maybe that whole story about it literally changing my life wasn’t enough. So, to make the decision easier for you, here are my top five reasons why you should – and shouldn’t – own a Merino wool buff.

  • It will get you at least six years of use.
  • It replaces a scarf, beanie, and balaclava.
  • You can take it anywhere.
  • It’s super easy to care for.
  • There’s nothing like a midday nap with a Merino wool buff as a sleep mask.

  • You care nothing about comfort, warmth, or functionality.
  • You’re afraid of sheep.
  • You are a sheep and already have your own wool.
  • You’re a nudist, so you don’t need any clothing at all.
  • You’re a member of the Illuminati and must adhere to a strict dress code.

Final Note About My Merino Wool Buff

That’s all that’s left to say. Hopefully, you’ll believe me when I say that the Merino wool buff changed my life. Merino wool gear wouldn’t be here without it.

Stories aside, this is my most versatile piece of Merino wool gear. To this day, it’s always in my daily bag. I never leave home without it. And you shouldn’t either!

As much as we love Merino wool – it’s comfy, sustainable, odor-proof, and more – it is technically a delicate fabric. And if you don’t have your laundering process in check, your expensive Merino wool shirt may become a cleaning rag in no time.

Fortunately, to mitigate these instances, you can use several care products to keep your Merino wool clothing fresher for longer. These laundry products include detergents, brushes, and longevity solutions to get the most extended wear life out of your Merino wool gear!

Today, I’ll go over a dozen care products in three main categories: things for the laundry, things for fabric care, and the best storage solutions. We use most of these products while caring for our Merino wool gear, and they’ve served us well. Now, we want to spread our know-how so you can better manage your wardrobe.

So, without further ado, let’s get cleaning with 12 Care Products To Increase the Wear-Life Of Your Merino Wool Gear!

Best Merino Wool Care Products For The Laundry

I bite my nails when I put my new Merino wool gear into the laundry. Over the years, I’ve had my clothing eaten by my laundry machine one too many times. Whether it’s ripped, warped, torn, or discolored, I’ve had my fair share of bad luck. Although, with all this trial and error, there’s been discovery. I now have the perfect arsenal of laundry products to wash and dry my Merino wool gear. And luckily for you, I’m always willing to spread this knowledge to my fellow Merino wool lovers.

I’ll review my favorite wool washes, drying racks, and wrinkle solutions for cleaning your Merino wool clothes. Hopefully, all this care knowledge – much of what I learned from countless mishaps – will help you to keep your clothing looking brand-new for years.

Outback Gold Wool Wash

Think of Merino wool like your hair; the harsher the chemicals you use – like masks, dyes, or shampoos – the less healthy your hair will be. The same principle applies to Merino wool clothing. The fabric is of animal origin, with natural proteins produced by the sheep and the same exact material as your hair: keratin. Strong detergents, bleaches, and stain removers can degrade the proteins in these fibers over time. So, specialized wool wash products are necessary to maintain the integrity and longevity of the material.

In my testing, I’ve relied on three wool washes. The one pictured above, Outback Gold Wool Wash, is my go-to for most Merino wool clothing. It’s gentle on clothing and helps maintain the fabric’s freshness. I also occasionally use Nixwax, which helps eliminate any deep odor. And finally, Kookaburra Wash is one the most eco-friendly wool detergents and is perfect for delicate knits.

Multi-Level Drying Rack

I will say this now, and probably a dozen times before the end of this article, but avoid putting your Merino wool clothing in the dryer! Some brands explicitly state that it’s okay to tumble dry on low or with no heat. In my not-so-expert opinion, it’s best to avoid the dryer altogether. Instead, utilize a foldable drying rack.

I use the SONGMICS multi-level drying rack as pictured above. The reason is that flat-drying Merino wool clothes is best. If you hang them vertically while wet, the water’s weight can stretch the fibers, resulting in a misshapen garment. So, using these extendable arms and multi-tier design, I can flat dry nearly an entire load of Merino wool clothing. And when everything’s fully dry, I can hang or fold the clothes and easily store the drying rack away in the closet. It’s genuinely one of the best purchases I’ve made to increase the lifespan of my Merino clothing.

Although, if you only have one Merino wool hoodie and maybe a pair of socks, you can lay a towel on a flat surface like a table. And as the fabric dries, you can keep an eye on the overall shape, adjusting or stretching when necessary.

Wool Dryer Balls

Minus33 Merino Wool Dryer Balls

Merino wool dryer balls are an excellent addition to your laundry. The soft, felted balls bounce around the dryer, distributing heat and moisture efficiently throughout your clothing. Moreover, wool dryer balls reduce static cling and act as a fabric softener.

And while you probably won’t put your Merino wool clothing in the dryer (at least, I hope not), these dryer balls – like the ones from Minus33 – will keep the rest of your wardrobe fresh. Check out some additional tips below!

  • Add 2-3 wool dryer balls to your dryer with each load of laundry.
  • Use wool dryer balls on low heat or air dry.
  • Replace your wool dryer balls every 6-12 months.
  • You can also add essential oils to your wool dryer balls to create a custom scent.

Portable Steamer

Let me start by saying that if you properly wash, dry, and store your Merino wool clothing, you should never need to iron or steam out wrinkles. That’s because Merino wool fibers have a natural crimp and stretch, preventing wrinkles from ever forming in the first place.

Now, with that out of the way, wrinkles do occur. Brands sometimes mix synthetics like nylon, polyester, and spandex into their Merino material for extra strength. These materials don’t have the same anti-wrinkle properties as wool.

So, if you have to get rid of wrinkles, use a steamer, but use caution. A steamer can be aggressive for some garments, as Merino wool is not too fond of high heat. I like to use a travel steamer since it’s less powerful. Yet, if you’re hesitant about using a steamer, I completely understand.

If you don’t have a steamer, still don’t use an iron. Some brands note you can cool-iron their wool clothing, but don’t risk it. Instead, hang your Merino wool clothing in the bathroom while you shower. Usually, the shower steam is enough to smooth out any wrinkles without warping the fabric shape.

Best Merino Wool Fabric Care Products

Merino wool is naturally odor-resistant, so you may not have to wash it as much. In other words, you’ll get more wear per wash. I usually get a solid 3-4 days of wear (not always continuous) before I have to wash my Merino wool gear. Although, after every wear, I don’t just throw my clothes on the floor. A higher level of fabric care is needed to keep Merino wool fabric clean as opposed to cotton and synthetic clothing.

So, it’s always good to have tools like a fabric brush, comb, shaver, and lint remover handy to increase the lifespan of all your clothing. I’ll review some of the tools I use and why they are essential to improving fabric life. In the process, you may pick up on some helpful care tips that the big brands don’t want you to know about.

Kent CP6 Clothes Brush

I know it sounds unbelievable, but one of the reasons my Merino wool clothing stays fresh is due to one main reason: a wool fabric brush. The trails I walk on are sandy and often humid where I live. So, dirt, dust, and grime can form even on the shortest of walks. A wool brush helps rid the fabric of debris. Therefore I can wash less and wear more!

I’ve found the brush especially helpful for my Merino wool shoes. The felted/boiled knit outers easily attract dirt, and giving them a good dry brush after wearing them helps to keep them fresh. I sometimes use it on the outsoles if debris becomes lodged within the crevices. It’s been an essential tool in maintaining my entire wardrobe.

I use the Kent CP6 brush because the natural boar bristles are gentler on fabrics than synthetic brushes. Although, it’s a little on the expensive side. Still, it’s saved more clothing than I can remember.

Reusable Gel Lint Roller

I have two dogs- a border collie and a pomeranian– and boy; those two shed constantly. Unfortunately, as pet and sheep hair are relatively similar, Merino wool clothing picks up their sheddings like crazy. Even one quick cuddle with my pups, and it looks like I work in a grooming salon. There’s just so much hair! And while I love Merino wool clothing, I love my dogs even more, so I had to discover a better solution.

At first, I used the disposable tape lint removers that you can pick up in nearly any grocery store pet aisle. However, I wasn’t too fond of the amount of waste they produced. So, to continuously improve Merino wool’s sustainability, I opted for a reusable lint roller instead. It works like a charm, and the best part is that I don’t have to keep buying the disposables since it’s reusable.

The best solution I found is a washable gel lint roller ball. I give a few quick rolls before heading out the door, and I’m pet-hair-free. Also, I’ve heard great things about the Chom Chom Pet Hair Remover, but I like the roller ball construction better.

Gleener FABRIC SHAVER

When cleaning your Merino wool clothing, you may notice small balls of fibers bunching on the fabric. This unfortunate process is called pilling. If this occurs to you, it may seem like you got ripped off. However, pilling is natural for Merino wool has natural fibers that have uneven lengths. So when these pills occur, it’s more like the weak fibers migrating away from the structural network.

In essence, it’s making the fabric stronger.

But, it still can be a site for sore eyes. Luckily, fabric care solutions can freshen your garments like a manual comb or pilling remover. These products remove any pills or loose fibers, essentially shaving the fabric. Although, it’s important to note that their use can be risky. You could end up with a hole if you catch a loose thread or snag on the fabric.

Ruidla Electric Defuzzer

You’re missing out if you don’t have an electric pilling remover/fabric shaver/defuzzer in your fabric care arsenal. It can sometimes be tricky to use wool clothing, but it works phenomenally for all other apparel, it works phenomenally.

Electric pilling removers work better with thicker materials (225+ gsm), like winter base layers and heavy sweaters. Anything thinner than that, you risk catching the good threads and ripping a hole in the fabric. Still, even with heavier materials, you’ll want to utilize an electric pilling remover as a last resort. If you misuse it, you not only risk ruining your expensive Merino wool clothing, but you may void your warranty, as well (especially with socks).

I use the Ruidla Electric Defuzzer, but there are better ones out there. I don’t use it enough to justify purchasing a new one. It performs to my expectations, so I don’t need anything fancier.

Best Merino Wool Clothing Storage Solutions

Finally, after you’ve laundered your clothes correctly and mitigated any fabric issues, it’s time to properly store them for the short term if your Merino wool gear is part of your daily rotation. And, if you wear your clothing more seasonally, you’ll want to think about long-term storage solutions.

For our final four Merino wool care products, I’ll go over four solutions that help increase the wear life of my Merino wool clothing. Note again that only some of these may be necessary for your situation, and you may already have the solution. So whatever your care line-up, ensure you have what you need to make your gear last a lifetime!

Cedar Hangers

Unfortunately, clothes moths love to eat Merino wool. Well, it’s clothes moth larvae that are the real problem. To grow, they need protein, and one of their favorite meals is Keratin, a protein in your hair, fingernails, and of course, the main building block of Merino wool clothing.

Fortunately, clothes moths don’t like one thing: cedar. Scientists have discovered that moths don’t like the smell of cedar and won’t lay their eggs – which eventually turn into wool-hungry larvae – anywhere nearby. So, that’s why you should always use cedar hangers if you’re hanging up your Merino wool gear in your closet.

Although the mechanism behind cedar’s moth-deterrent properties arose with modern science, humans have been using cedar to protect their clothing for millennia! Historians agree that wealthier Ancient Greeks used to store their wardrobes – much of what was wool – in cedar or cedar-lined chests. Moreover, we’ve been building closets and cabinets in homes from cedar for over a century. Still, with many modern closets built with drywall – especially those in rental units – cedar hangers are the best choice to keep those pesky moths away from your precious Merino.

Although, not all Merino wool clothing needs to be on hangers – underwear, socks, bras, etc. If you have a persistent moth problem, I suggest a small cedar storage block in your drawer. They have the same anti-bug effect as the hangers, are relatively inexpensive (just a tiny block of wood), and can save you a world of hurt.

Odor Absorber Bags

Let’s talk about why Merino wool is odor-proof. Many people believe it’s because bacteria don’t like living on wool, but that’s not the case. The odors emitted from foul-smelling bacteria become trapped in water vapor pockets formed by wool’s natural crimp. Therefore, all your nasty smell gets passed onto the atmosphere and is not trapped in the fabric fibers, keeping your Merino clothing fresher for longer.

But that smell has to go somewhere, right? That’s where the odor absorber bags come in. Using activated charcoal bags removes the odors from the air, so your closet doesn’t smell like a gym bag. So, grab some today!

Vacuum Storage Bags

If you only wear your Merino wool apparel seasonally, you need a long-term storage solution to keep your clothes fresh. So, after the last hike or ski run of the year, wash your clothes, dry them out, and store them in vacuum-sealed bags!

The airtight seal protects against moth and moisture damage while keeping your clothes fresh and clean! Here are some tips for storing your Merino wool clothes in vacuum storage bags:

  • Fold or roll your clothes neatly before placing them in the bag. This will help to reduce wrinkles and prevent the clothes from getting damaged.
  • Do not overfill the bags. If the bags are too full, the vacuum seal may not be effective.
  • Label the bags with the contents and the date. This will help you track what is in the bags and when they were last stored.
  • Store the bags in a cool, dry place. This will help to prevent moisture damage.

Airtight Storage

Finally, the last line of defense you have against clothes moth larvae is airtight storage. I use a 50-quart under-bed storage container like the one pictured above. It’s nothing special, and it doesn’t have to be. And for someone with a lot of Merino wool gear, it safely stores all my seasonal items. Still, other sizes and dimensions are available so that you can tailor the solution to your individual storage needs.

Moreover, if you want to add an extra layer of protection, you can throw in a cedar block inside. You can never be too cautious when it comes to moths! I recommend pairing this storage method with the vacuum-sealed bags mentioned previously, but you should be good if you only use one.

Final Note On Merino Wool Care Products

And there you have it; our twelve favorite care products for keeping our Merino wool gear fresh and long-lasting!

To recap, while doing the laundry, you’ll want to avoid the dryer and harsh detergents, opting for a drying rack and wool wash instead. Use a brush or lint roller between washes to keep dirt and debris at bay. Moreover, if you experience pilling, make sure to choose a fabric shaver – either manual or electric – based on the thickness of the fabric. Finally, when it’s time to store your clothes, keep the clothes moths at bay with cedar, and keep your storage containers airtight for added protection.

The best part is since we’ve already been through the trial-and-error process of finding the best products for each, you’ll be able to get the most out of your Merino wool clothing without spending too much. And, by caring for your clothes correctly, you’ll increase their lifespan, reducing waste in the process. That way, we care for our clothes and our planet simultaneously.

We’re back with another Merino wool dress review! This time, we’ll explore the ins and outs of the Unbound Merino Travel Dress.

I’m excited about this review because Unbound Merino has a best-in-class reputation in the men’s Merino clothing industry. However, it wasn’t until recently (May 2022) that they offered women’s clothing.

And girl, was it worth the wait. They now have a wide selection of women’s Merino wool travel clothing; we are all in for it!

If you have seen any previous Merino wool Gear reviews, you know we like to dive deeply into our analysis. I’ll provide you with my ‘Initial Thoughts‘ on the dress, wear in various situations for three days, and even test it out in the laundry! Ultimately, I’ll provide my honest opinion on what I liked and what I think could be improved.

And since this dress is so new, I’ll do my best to provide you with all the information I can. That way, you’ll be able to determine whether or not you should add it to your closet.

Initial Thoughts

Opening the package from Unbound Merino was a joy for me. The dress was nicely wrapped in tissue paper labeled with an Unbound Merino sticker and placed in a slim carton box. So, if you want to give this dress as a gift, there’s no additional work!

Unbound Merino Travel Dress Packaging

When I first touched the dress, I noticed how light and soft the material felt. It’s thin yet durable, and I can tell the Merino wool is top-tier. Moreover, the seam construction is exceptional. All the seams look expertly stitched, and you can see a lot of craftsmanship in the design. The high-quality stitching and fabric give the impression that this dress will last long.

The style itself is straightforward and effortless. It’s simple but in the best way possible. The fit is loose and flowing, so it hides my body imperfections (which I absolutely love). The neckline is a shallow, modest cut that offers a casual yet elegant look. There is even an open seam on the leg which adds volume.

High Quality Seams in Green Merino Wool Dress

My initial concern with the dress design is the armhole depth. I have a petite frame (5’1″, athletic), so my bra peeks through the sides. It won’t necessarily look the same on you, but just something to think about. Moreover, I prefer not to wear a bra. I usually use silicone nipple covers instead. So, this “issue” is not really an issue for me.

Since this is a brand new product, only two colors are available: black and forest green (2023 Update: this dress is now available in three colors: black, caramel, and indigo) . I ordered the forest green, and I’m sure I made the right choice. The color is muted but rich. Moreover, the flowing fit creates deeper shades of green depending on the lighting.

I am delighted with how the dress feels and looks. I can’t wait to see how it holds up during the testing phase!

Features & Specifications

Merino Travel Dress Specification Infographic

Here’s the thing: this dress has no super special features, which is why I love it so much! It’s well-made, comfy, and stylish. That’s it. There’s no need for extra bells and whistles with a dress like this!

The only true feature to discuss is the material itself. Unbound Merino uses 18.5-micron Merino wool, which is why the material is so soft. Plus, they blended in small amounts of nylon and spandex to provide extra strength and stretch. Finally, the 180 gsm fabric is lightweight and breezy.

And because of the fabric weight, I’d classify this as a summer dress. It’s not my chicest dress, so I won’t wear it for high-end outings. However, it’s an excellent choice for a walk in a park, gardening, running errands, traveling, or even going to the beach.

Three-Day Wear Test

Initial impressions are one thing, but can the Unbound Merino Travel Dress hold up to the rigors of daily life?

That’s where the Three-Day Wear test comes in. I’ll chronicle how this dress is held up in various situations so you can better understand how it may fit into your closet.

So, let’s put this dress to the test.

Initial impressions are one thing, but can the Unbound Merino Travel Dress hold up to the rigors of daily life?
That’s where the Three-Day Wear test comes in. I’ll detail how this dress is held up in various situations – with some different outfits – so you can better understand how it may fit into your closet.
So, let’s put this dress to the test.

Day One

To start my test, I decided to try this dress while running errands around town. I paired it with simple white sneakers for a more casual look. At first, I thought it looked a little too ‘teenage-ish‘ for a mom. However, there is just a minimalistic elegance to this outfit that’s more mature than not. It’s not fancy, but it tells others, ‘ I take care of myself.

Women in a Green Wool Dress

Throughout the day, I barely noticed the dress. The cut is quite deep, but there wasn’t anything slipping out. Moreover, the side hem split made it easier to walk around. It was a lovely day overall, and there’s no doubt the dress contributed to that!

Day Two

After a successful day-one test, it’s time to spice this dress up a bit! I opted for the gold chain belt, which looked great and helped to showcase my curves. The slides were also a nice touch and fit the style of the dress well. Moreover, the unique side hem split of the dress brought the entire look together!

Woman in green dress and gold belt

I decided to head out for brunch on a sunny day. The dress worked out perfectly, allowing for plenty of airflow and ventilation. However, I started to sweat after the sun was directly overhead. It could be because I had just finished my third mimosa, too. Who knows?

Day Three

It was a little chilly during the last day of my testing, but nothing that this dress couldn’t handle! I wore one of my favorite leather jackets, high-top black sneakers, and a simple crossbody bag (which completed the look). I was comfortable in temperatures down to 50 °F (10 °C) for short periods. And while most of this warmth came from the jacket, I could feel how the Merino wool aided insulation. It’s just one of its many benefits!

Woman in black jacket and green dress

After three days of testing, this Unbound Merino Travel Dress passed with flying colors. It’s an excellent three-season dress that can be dressed down, up, or anywhere between. And the best part about it is that the dress doesn’t smell after three busy days!

And that is why I love Merino wool gear!

Laundry Test

Truthfully, this dress doesn’t even have to go into the laundry after three days of wear. I’ve just been laying it flat (it helps with wrinkles) and airing it out. It’s just as fresh as when I opened the package.

Still, testing the fabric, stitching, and durability is essential. Unbound Merino provides a card with care instructions, or you can check out their site. It’s pretty simple; you want to avoid harsh chemicals and the dryer. That’s standard with most Merino wool care.

So, after putting it through the laundry, I’m happy to say everything made it out good as new. There wasn’t any shrinkage, loose threads, or pilling, so that’s a win!

One-Year Later

So, I originally planned on releasing this review a year ago, but while I was testing and writing, it went out of stock. So, instead of releasing it immediately, I decided to wait a year, wearing this dress even more! It made it to birthday parties, garage sales, the zoo, and more. My favorite time I wore the dress was relaxing at the beach with a sun hat to match.

From my twelve additional months of testing, I fully support this Unbound Merino Travel Dress. The seams and fabric have held up to multiple washes and can withstand everyday life’s rigors. And when you have a messy toddler, you never know what the day will throw at you!

Results: What I Liked

After a year of wearing this dress, I can finally give you everything I like. Well, if I told you everything, we might be here for a while. Instead, let’s stick with the three things I liked the most – style, comfort, & affordability – and expand on each.

It’s My New Go-To Dress!

This is my to-go dress. It’s for days when I don’t know what to wear cause I know I will feel comfortable and look good no matter what. It covers over half of my wardrobe and accessories, so I’m always excited to mix and match! In fact, I wear it around the house and yard so much that I’m afraid my neighbors may call me “that woman in the green dress.

It Feels Like A Second Skin!

I love this fabric. There’s something about it that’s so loose and flowy but also modest. There is always plenty of ventilation, so I rarely sweat. And it barely feels like I’m wearing anything at all!

Pro Tip: For some reason, I love throwing this dress on after a cool shower on a hot day. I know it’s weird, but it feels incredible!

It’s Actually Affordable!

Okay, okay, I get it. When you first see this dress’s price tag, you may think I’m crazy when I say it’s affordable, but hear me out. Since the design is so universal, the fabric is easy to care for, and the style is timeless, the Unbound Merino Dress replaces 4-5 dresses in your wardrobe. The material is so high-quality that it should stay fresh for years.

So, is this dress affordable in the traditional sense? No. But if you’re fine-tuning your wardrobe and living a simple lifestyle, it’s 100% worth every penny. Check below for this travel dress’s latest price.

Areas To Improve

Just like life, Merino wool clothing always has its ups and downs. And, with this Unbound Merino dress, while there were far more ups and downs, it’s still important to point out the latter so you can determine whether or not this dress works for you. In my testing experience, I found two areas I hope could improve: color variety & overall availability. Let’s take a close look at each.

Color Selection

So, when I got this dress in the summer of 2022, there were only two options: olive & black. And since it was a new release then, I understood the narrow selection. However, a year later, there are only three color options: black, caramel, & indigo. Now, that’s not saying these colors aren’t great, but as a chronic shopper, the more color choices, the better!

Availability

Unfortunately, this dress is popular. So much so that many standard sizes sell out whenever there’s a restock. Luckily, Unbound Merino has an “Email When Available” option, so you don’t have to keep checking back every few weeks. Still, having a broader range of sizes and colors for general stock would be ideal.

Final Note About The Unbound Merino Travel Dress

Three Unbound Merino Dresses

Well, I hope you liked my complete Unbound Merino Travel Dress review. I tested it out for three days, threw it in the laundry, and wore it on and off for a year. This dress is a unique piece showcasing Merino wool’s versatility, especially in the travel industry. And if I were to give it a grade, it would have to be an A. Let’s hope they release more colors (my vote is for beige) next season so I can get another one!

If you like this dress, check out more of Unbound Merino’s women’s travel collection. They have been in full swing for over a year and seemed to work out the initial kinks. All in all, their offerings are by far the best Merino wool clothing for travel.

There is no such thing as too many summer tops, especially if you live hot and humid climate like I do. While searching for a versatile piece to add to my wardrobe, I came across the Ridge Merino Bralette. It was just what I wanted, so – like any good shopper – I got two of them!

Since I got the bralettes, I thought, why not complete the set with a pair of boy shorts? So, that’s precisely what I did!

And now, after one year of wearing the Ridge Merino Bralette and Boy Shorts (not continually, obviously), I wanted to share some of my thoughts from when I first got them. Then, we’ll fast-forward twelve months later to see if I feel the same. I’ll review what I liked the best about each and some aspects I believe could be improved in the next release.

Initial Thoughts

I am only 5 feet tall with a slim body type, and I prefer fitted tops to end at my belly button so I can wear them with my high-waisted bottoms. That’s why my choice immediately fell on this bralette, which I got in two colors: olive night and faded rose.

Two Ridge Merino Bralette Unpackaging

Once I received my bralette, I first noticed how lightweight it was, which I shouldn’t be surprised about because it is one of well known Merino wool’s advantages. Both tops fit me just as expected, not too tight or loose, and felt like a second skin. Much of that is due to the ultralight fabric, which is so soft and breathable.

The bralette has a wide, elastic band at the bottom that sits comfortably on the ribcage without feeling too tight. This allows a snug, supportive fit for the built-in bra. Still, since the fabric is so thin and there are no pockets for padding, I hope my nipple outline doesn’t pop through like I was Jennifer Aniston on Friends. They must have kept it extra cold in that studio, right?

Ridge Merino Boy Shorts Unpackaging

As for the boy shorts, I have never owned that underwear style before, so I was excited to test them out. They are the same material, style, and color (olive night) as the bralette, which is why I purchased them together in the first place!

The construction of the boy shorts is top-notch, with strong stitching and attention to detail. You can tell a lot of thought and expertise went into the design. They offer plenty of coverage in all the right places while maintaining a close-to-skin profile. So I shouldn’t have trouble wearing them with joggers, jeans, or free-flowing dresses. However, I’ll probably opt for a thong with leggings and hip-hugging dresses.

One Year Later

Women working on couch wearing a Ridge Merino Bralette

I ordered the bralettes and boy shorts in the summer of 2022. Almost instantly, they became staples in my wardrobe. Despite initially looking for summer tops, I found myself wearing the bralette during each season. I love wearing it under sweaters in the fall and winter. It just feels warm and cozy, especially on windy days. I prefer to layer my tops with an open-front shirt on warm and sunny days. Or if it’s super hot, it works just as well as a standalone piece.

The boy shorts offer great coverage, and I wore them with various outfits. They have a slim profile, so like I mentioned a year ago, I won’t wear them with tight-fitting clothing. Moreover, the leg openings are also well-designed, allowing freedom of movement. The material is light and breathable. Adding spandex provides a stretchy and supportive fit that moves with your body, ensuring no restrictions or discomfort.

Ridge Merino Bralette Comparison Side By Side

For an experiment, I put one of the tops aside and wore only the bralette in olive night color for a couple of months to compare how the material would hold up through wears, washes, and accidents. As you can see, the bralette I wore was slightly more stretched out, but that’s because it molded around my body shape more. And as for the shorts, the material and shape still hold strong even after countless wears and washes. It still sits snug around the leg without being too loose, riding up, or bunching. Both bralettes and the boy shorts wash well and have always held their original color.

All in all, I’m more than satisfied with my purchase. I’m constantly wearing the bralette and boy shorts as pajamas around the house. And if I have to run errands, I throw jeans, and a cardigan, overtop for a comfy, casual look.

What I Liked

So, after wearing it for a year in every possible way I could think about, I’m ready to give you my final verdict on what I liked. I enjoyed many little things like the Merino wool fabric, adjustable straps, and even the built-in shelf bra (sometimes). However, the three main categories that separate these bralettes and boy shorts from the rest of the competition are their versatility, comfort, and affordability. Let’s look further into each.

Versatility

Women Stretching on Bridge Wearing A Ridge Merino Bralette

Honestly, I can wear this bralette with nearly any outfit. It’s a to-go laidback outfit with a white boyfriend-style shirt and biker shorts or jeans. I can wear it with athletic shorts for a simple summer look. And I can even wear it under a cardigan in the winter months. I can wear this Merino wool bralette all year round!

As for underwear, I typically prefer thongs for everyday use. It’s not like I’m not too fond of more coverage. I simply don’t the showing outline when wearing briefs or hipsters with slim-fitted bottoms. Giving boy shorts a chance was definitely a win for me. They provide a seamless and smooth silhouette under clothing. Which is exactly what I was looking for.

Together, the bralette and boy shorts come in a variety of colors which makes it easy to pair them with other Ridge Merino tops and bras for a complete set.

Comfort & Fit

Ridge Merino Bralette and Shorts Both Front And Back View

It really feels like I’m wearing nothing.

The bralette has a wide, elastic band at the bottom that sits comfortably on the ribcage without feeling too tight. However, it only provides low-to-medium support and is unsuitable for high-impact activities, but it works excellent for light workouts, yoga, and everyday wear.

In addition, I found the fit of the Ridge Merino boy shorts to be excellent. The waistband is wide and elasticized, offering a secure and comfortable fit without digging into the skin or sliding down. Which, with some other Merino wool underwear, I’ve had issues with.

Affordability

If you’re a seasoned Merino wool lover, you know this gear can be expensive. The cost is actually one of the few downsides of Merino wool. Fortunately, Ridge Merino offers a relatively low price tag for the bralette, boy shorts, and their entire collection, for that matter.

We develop high-quality Merino wool apparel that performs as well in daily life as it does in the wildest outdoor conditions. We’re inspired by nature to innovate and give back.

– Ridge Merino Mission

These two items combined (~$70) can be purchased for less than your standard Merino wool tee, and I can guarantee you’ll get every penny out of them. The fabric and design are just as high-quality! However, if money’s tight, you can watch for Ridge Merino’s clearance page, where many of their products (including bralettes and boy shorts) can be on sale for up to 50% off. Also, by signing up for their email list, you can receive 15% off your first order.

What I Didn’t Like

Even with all the aspects I enjoy, these clothes have two minor qualms: one for the bralette and one for the boy shorts. Nothing major, but I found little issues wearing them from the year. They are more like design suggestions than negatives. Still, take a look at each and decide for yourself!

Bralette: No Room For Padding

Ridge Merino Bralette Built In Shelf Bra Front & Back

This bralette’s only disadvantage is that it doesn’t have removable bra pads. Despite two layers in a built-in shelf bra, you can still see the nipples outline, especially with lighter colors like faded rose or coyote.

I hope Ridge Merino will upgrade their design by adding removable pads, and we won’t have to wear nipple covers anymore.

Boyshorts: No Room For “Padding”

Ridge Merino Boy Shorts Up Close

When buying the boy shorts, I thought they would be perfect for “those days.” Unfortunately, I found its fabric and construction uncomfortable to stick a pad on. I know it’s small, but Merino wool doesn’t mesh well with the sticky stuff. It is what it is, but I usually won’t wear the boy shorts when it’s my time of the month.

Final Note About The Ridge Merino Bralette & Boy Shorts

Ridge Merino Bralette Fabric Up Close

Overall, the Ridge Merino Women’s Bralette is an excellent choice for those who value comfort, support, and functionality in their undergarments. This bralette will keep you comfortable and confident all day with its adjustable straps, wide elastic band, and breathable, odor-resistant fabric. Pairing it with the boy shorts makes a fantastic top and bottom underlayer.

Ridge Merino clothing delivers on all fronts, whether for everyday comfort or durable and versatile gear for physical activities. Give both the bralette and boy shorts a try.

Wool in the summer? Are you crazy?! Well, this isn’t your grandma’s wool. It’s high-performing, ultralight, odor-free Merino wool.

And it makes the perfect material for summer tees, tanks, and camisoles.

The reason is that Merino wool is a temperature regulator. It keeps your body warm when it’s cold but also keeps you cool when it’s hot. How else would the sheep survive in ever-changing weather conditions?

Today, I’ll review five tees, tanks, and camisoles you may want to add to your wardrobe. That’s fifteen in all! And the best part about them? They’re all Merino!

Best Women’s Merino Wool Tees

Unbound Merino Women’s V-Neck Tee

100% Merino wool | 190 gsm | Relaxed fit | 7 colors | $$$$

Unbound Women's Merino Wool V-Neck T-Shirt Beige

Pros: Flattering, free-flowing fit | Excellent color selection | Best for travel

Cons: Limited availability | Color variation from online

If you’re a travel buff and are unfamiliar with Unbound Merino, you’ve really been missing out. They create some of the comfiest and most stylish travel clothing for men and women. The best part is that all their fabric is high-quality, super soft Merino wool. And, in terms of tees, their v-neck is by far our favorite.

The free-flowing fabric and soft, 17.5-micron Merino fibers provide an extraordinarily soft next-to-skin feel. At 190 gsm, the material is lightweight enough to keep you cool in the summer sun while insulating sufficiently to provide warmth as an underlayer in the winter. It’s hard to believe there is so much versatility built into only one tee!

Another thing I love about this tee – and most Unbound Merino Clothing – is the mature, fashionable color offerings. For example, this tee has unique shades like CaramelIvory, and other elegant, seasonal colors. However, there’s an issue; these colors always sell out quickly! It’s good that they are popular, but waiting on your desired tee (size & color) to return to stock can be a hassle.

Finally, while I’m a v-neck girl for life, I understand that others like more of a scoop. If that’s you, luckily, Unbound Merino has other tee designs, like their Pocket Boxy Tee, that still utilize the same high-performing fabric. They’ll even let you select a pack of three tees (at a great discount), and you can choose whichever necklines you’d like! Either way, you know you’re getting one of the best women’s Merino wool tees when you choose Unbound Merino.

Smartwool Women’s Merino Short Sleeve Tee

88% Merino, 12% Nylon | 150 gsm | Slim fit | 5 colors | $$$

Smartwool Womens Merino Short Sleeve Tee Green

Pros: Enhanced durability | Ultralight, comfy fabric | Best ‘basic’ Merino wool tee

Cons: Longterm shape concerns | Lighter colors may be translucent

In the world of Merino wool, Smartwool is among the top brands. You may know them from their selection of high-performance socks, but they also offer a diverse array of Merino wool clothing and accessories. As they’ve been around for so long, they’ve developed a formula for success by relying on their expertise. And one product that embodies this knowledge is their women’s short sleeve tee.

So, why is the standard of a Merino wool tee? Simple, it’s simple! It’s just your basic slim-fit tee. No major frills or design features (outside the fabric) stick out. So, you can wear it to the gym, for a walk, at the store, or even just around the house. And, since the material is a wool-nylon blend, it’s more durable than traditional Merino. This fiber mixture helps maintain the shirt’s longevity, as the ultralight, breathable fabric sometimes needs extra strength to survive the washing machine. Even then, you’ll want to take proper care to ensure the shirt retains shape over time.

And while I commend this tee for being the ‘perfect ordinary shirt,’ I understand that you may be looking for something more extraordinary. Fortunately, Smartwool has a solid collection of Merino wool tops, tanks, & tees for all styles, activities, and body types. Head on over to their store today to see more!

Woolx Gabi Tunic Top

85% Merino, 12% nylon, 3% spandex | 150 gsm | Loose fit | 4 colors | $$$$

Woolx Gabi Tunic Top Pink Stripes

Pros: Lightweight yet durable | Flowing, relaxed fit | Versatile style

Cons: Limited color options | Sizing discrepancies

If you’re looking for a loose, free-flowing tee for summer fun, Woolx has you covered with the Gabi Tunic Top. The ultralight, breathable fabric will keep you cool even on the hottest days. Moreover, the curved hem and tunic length offers a unique casual style.

One of the best things about the Gabi Tunic Top is its versatility. It can be dressed up or down, depending on the occasion. You can pair it with jeans or leggings for a more casual look, or you can pair it with a skirt or dress pants for a more dressed-up look. Although, I do wish there were more color options available. Maybe I’ll have to wait until next season.

Still, I love this tee’s fabric composition. You get comfort and performance from the top-notch, Woolmark-Certified Merino wool (85%). The remainder is a mixture of nylon (for added strength) and spandex (for added stretch). So, when you put it all together, you get a soft, flexible, and durable fabric!

The Woolx Gabi Tunic Top is a great all-around shirt for various summer activities. It uses soft, high-quality materials and is well-made (as are all of Woolx’s creations). So, if you are looking for a comfortable, versatile, and easy-care shirt, the Woolx Gabi Tunic Top is a great option. Grab yours today!

Wool& Stella Scoop Neck Tee

78% Merino, 22% Nylon | 160 gsm | Roomy fit | 12 colors | $$$

Wool& Stella Scoop neck tee in natural white

Pros: Fitted at the chest, roomy around the body | High-quality material | Versatile summer wear

Cons: Must launder with care | May hold odors after several wears

With another luxurious cut and free-flowing drape, the Wool& Stella Scoop Neck Tee makes our best Merino tee list! The shirt is more fitted around the chest, with a roomier, more relaxed fit around the midsection. So, if you’re like me and haven’t done a sit-up in a while, this tee will help to hide any imperfections while looking good.

And, as I’m a Merino wool lover at my core, I must mention how awesome this fabric feels. The soft-to-the-touch, 17.5-micron wool feels effortless, while the ultralight (160 gsm) fabric provides breathability. And, since Wool& uses a wool-nylon blend, the material is strong. Still, due to the synthetics, it may pick up some body odor over time. My advice: wash it (carefully) after a few wears or whenever it starts picking up funk.

All in all, the Wool& Stella Scoop Neck Tee is a fantastic choice for all ages. The unique fit, soft fabric, and elegant style make it essential for summer picnics, barbecues, and outdoor get-togethers. So, jump on over to Wool& to see more! And if you don’t like this tee, their store has dozens of other styles available.

Merino.Tech Women’s Tee

100% Merino wool | 165 gsm | Standard fit | 30+ colors/styles | $$

Pros: Top price-to-quality ratio | Almost every color | Free pair of socks

Cons: Pilling may occur | Longevity concerns

If you’ve dug further into these tees, you’ll understand Merino Wool clothing can be expensive. In fact, it’s one of the few downsides of Merino wool. However, some brands focus on creating basic, affordable Merino clothing, and Merino Tech is one of them. They offer the same great Merino wool gear as some other brands, all at a price that won’t break the bank.

And you may be thinking, “Wouldn’t a cheaper shirt mean a cheaper product?” Well, sometimes, yes. But in the case of this tee, no way! I’ve been rocking my Merino Tech shirt for years without any issues. It’s my go-to tee when all I need is a tee. There haven’t been any issues in the laundry besides some initial pilling. It’s the same high-quality material as the other brands at a fraction of the price!

Plus, Merino Tech has an extensive color selection, thirty in all! There’s nearly every fabric shade you can think of! I stuck with the basic black tee, but it’s safe to say if there’s a color you want, Merino Tech has it.

Oh yeah, and you also get a free pair of hiking socks! Now that’s a true deal on Merino Wool Gear!

Best Women’s Merino Wool Tank Tops

Woolly Cropped Tank Top

95% Merino, 5% Elastane | 150 gsm | Modern fit | 3 colors | $

Woolly Cropped Tank Top Canary Yellow

Pros: Excellent breathability | Flattering cut | Great for the gym

Cons: Limited size options | Limited color options

If you’re looking for new, comfortable, and versatile pieces to add to your wardrobe, the Woolly Cropped Tank may be your best choice. It has a flattering drape and cropped hem, which sits just high enough not to be too revealing. It hits your curves in the right places.

Not only is the style favorable, but so is the material. It’s a 95/5 blend of wool & spandex. So, you get all the beneficial natural properties from Merino, with a little extra stretch for athletic activities. The fabric flexibility makes this my favorite Merino wool tank top for yoga. There’s just so much room for movement!

And although this style is rather new, it’s become popular quickly. So, you may not see your color or size available at first. However, Woolly tends to release new color options and restocks seasonally, so keep an eye out throughout the year.

So, if you live an active lifestyle, you will love this tank top. It’s the perfect piece for your summer wardrobe. And if the cropped tank is different from your style, head over to Woolly for more tank & tee styles. There are a handful to choose from!

Ibex Women’s Essential Racerback

83% Merino, 12% Nylon, 5% Elastane| 140 gsm | Next-to-skin fit | 7 colors | $$$

Ibex Womens Essential Racerback Tank Oatmeal Melange

Pros: Best for athletic endeavors | Next-to-skin comfort | One of my favorite all-season underlayers

Cons: Tight fit, not for everyone | Initial itchiness may occur

Many Merino wool tees and tank tops we’ve discussed have been free-flowing, relaxed fits. However, Merino wool is one of the best base layer materials, so you should explore a tank with a tighter fit. That way, you can layer overtop without any extra fabric bunching. And of all the tight-fitting Merino wool tanks I’ve tried, the Ibex Essential Racerback is my favorite (Ibex Update: the latest release has a looser fit, so size down for snugness).

I like this tank for summer outdoor activities. It does a fantastic job regulating sweat, as the ultralight (140 gsm) fabric dries quickly. And, if it gets slightly chilly at night, I can throw on a shirt overtop for extra warmth. There’s no fabric bunching due to the snugger fit, either! Still, if it’s you’re first time wearing it, be mindful that some users report an initial itchy feeling. This feeling is normal for Merino wool clothing and typically disappears after the first wash.

I highly recommend the Ibex Essential Racerback tank for anyone who is always on the move. The back design provides plenty of shoulder movement, while the fabric does an excellent job at regulating your core temperature. And as this tank is available in various colors, you are bound to find one that suits your style! Head to Ibex, and add the Essential Racerback to your wardrobe soon!

Wool& Poppy Tank

78% Merino, 22% Nylon | 160 gsm | Standard fit | 5 colors | $$$

Wooland Merino Poppy Tank Blue

Pros: Reversible design | Cut hides imperfections | Style for all ages

Cons: Hem length may be too short for some | Some color discrepancies

Wool& makes our tee, tanks, and camisoles list again with their Poppy Tank. Crafted from the same material as their Stella Scoop Neck, you’re getting the highest quality Merino wool fabric. It’s soft, odor-resistant, and cool to the touch. As I’ve been around Merino wool gear for years, I can tell you it’s one of my favorite fabrics.

But there’s one more about this tank top that sets it apart: it’s reversible! The A-frame style allows you to wear it as a v-neck or crew. I like to mix the necklines with various outfits to get the most out of one single tank top. The style is more mature and suitable for all ages- as are most of Wool&’s products – but some users report that the hem needs longer. I don’t think it’s an issue, but I don’t have that long of a torso. I’m only 5’1″!

Finally, I wish this Poppy Tank had more color choices, but the four currently available are nice. Although, some wearers have found some discrepancies between the color of the product image and the final product. Again, I haven’t seen this issue, but if you’re concerned, browse through the ratings section before you buy one!

Icebreaker Women’s Merino Sphere II Tank

60% TENCEL™, 40% Merino | 125 gsm | Regular fit | 7 colors | $$$

Icebreaker Women's Merino Sphere II Tank Top Purple Gaze

Pros: Super ultralight | Technical hiking features | Soft, comfortable fabric

Cons: Large armholes | Expensive for a tank

Let’s get one thing straight: the Merino Sphere Tank is super ultralight. The fabric weight is 125 gsm, less than two sheets of paper. On the scale, the small is only 4 ounces! Icebreaker uses advanced Cool-Lite™ jersey fabric that allows your core to breathe so you don’t overheat. Pretty neat, right?

Icebreaker’s design incorporates subtle technical features, making this tank ideal for outdoor adventure. For example, the offset shoulder seams prevent ‘stick rash’ from carrying a heavy hiking backpack. Also, the drop-tail hem adds extra coverage so your pack doesn’t chafe your lower back.

Still, the armholes are rather large, and if you aren’t wearing a sports bra, this tank may be too revealing. It’s not necessarily a negative thing, just something to watch out for if you’re on the fence.

Finally, Icebreaker is always one of our favorite Merino wool brands. They create high-performance clothing with some of the best technical features in the industry. And you may not see it from this basic Merino wool tank top, but there’s a lot of expertise that goes into every stitch. We wouldn’t expect anything less from Icebreaker.

Unbound Merino Muscle Tank

100% Merino wool | 175 gsm | Classic fit | 3 colors | $$$

Unbound Merino Women's Muscle Tank Black

Pros: Classic, stylish cut | Top-notch versatility | Grade-A sustainability

Cons: Minimal color selection | Sizing discrepancies

Muscle tanks made from soft, odor-free Merino wool are an excellent addition to any capsule wardrobe—the large armholes and relaxed fit offer a range of outfit options. You can pair it alone with jeans for a stylish, casual look or wear it underneath a sweater for extra warmth. This versatility is why Merino wool muscle tanks are one of our favorite travel companions. And in the travel department, Unbound Merino and their women’s muscle tank are the strongest.

The material is lightweight (175 gsm), 100% Merino wool jersey that feels ever-so soft against the skin. There shouldn’t be any irritation or sweating, as the classic, stylish cut is extremely breathable. And not only will your body look and feel good with this Muscle Tank, but you’ll have a good conscious knowing that Unbound Merino sources all their wool sustainably and ethically. They know the best way to keep their customers happy is to keep the sheep happy, and I couldn’t agree more!

Finally, Unbound Merino’s women’s collection only became available in the summer of 2022, so they are still building their standard color offerings. If you like the style of the tank but need help settling on the available colors, you can always reach out to Unbound Merino. They have an excellent support staff. And if simple human contact is too much of a hassle, wait until next season’s new color releases!

Best Merino Wool Camisoles

Ridge Merino Bralette

83% Merino, 12% Nylon, 5% Spandex | 170 gsm | Tight fit | 9 colors | $

Women Wearing a Ridge Merino Bralette

Pros: Awesome next-to-skin layer | Surprisingly supportive | Relatively inexpensive

Cons: Seasonal color availability | No room for padding

I get it; it’s a bralette, not a camisole. But honestly, I’ve been doing this for years, and I still can’t tell the difference. And I happen to love my Ridge Merino Bralette, so much so that I’ll talk about it any time I can. The durable yet soft Merino wool fabric makes an excellent next-to-skin layer.

The fit is snug, as you would expect from a bralette. But I was surprised that the fabric is rather supportive. The elastic band at the bottom sits comfortably on the ribcage without feeling too tight, and the adjustable straps provide the perfect fit. Although, one design change I would love to see is chest pockets for reusable padding. Still, the bralette works well for low-impact activities or everyday wear (even if I have to wear nipple covers!).

Finally, the best part about this bralette is that it comes at a great price. Ridge Merino always strives to offer high-quality Merino wool gear at a reasonable price, which truly shows. All the clothing I’ve tested from them moves into my daily wardrobe rotation at some point, and this bralette is no different. I even have two: one olive and one rose!

Icebreaker Women’s Merino Siren Cami Singlet

83% Merino, 12% Nylon, 5% LYCRA® | 150 gsm | Slim fit | 3 colors | $$$

Icebreaker Women's Merino Siren Cami Singlet Off White

Pros: Stretchy, form-fitting fabric | Adjustable straps | Warmth without bulk

Cons: Slightly transparent | Sizing inconsistencies

Icebreaker returns to our list with an elegant, comfortable Merino wool top: the Siren Cami Singlet. The broad scoop neck and adjustable straps help achieve your ideal fit, while the natural properties of Merino wool regulate your body temperature like no other fabric. Putting that little layer of Merino wool around your core will keep you cozy all day.

Moreover, the fabric has excellent stretch and recovery, so it should hug your curves nicely. That’s because Icebreaker blends 5% spandex into the material. Yet, since this camisole comes in some lighter shades, just be wary that the fabric may be see-through depending on the lighting. And while some users reported sizing discrepancies, we find it true-to-size.

In the end, you can’t go wrong with this Siren Cami Singlet, or any Icebreaker gear, for that matter. And sure, it may be on the more expensive end of the Merino wool spectrum. But with top-notch design features and high-quality fabric, they are 100% worth it!

Smartwool Women’s Merino Lace Tank

77% Merino, 23% Nylon | Lightweight lace knit | Slim fit | 5 colors | $$

Smartwool Womens Merino Lace Tank Dark Gray

Pros: Fantastic temperature regulation | Flattering scoop neck | Adjustable straps

Cons: Delicate fabric | Fit discrepancies

As mentioned, you can always count on Smartwool for comfy, high-performing Merino wool gear. And their Women’s Merino Lace Tank is one of the high-performing of them all! The unique lace material offers excellent moisture and temperature management properties.

While you may think the lace fabric is delicate, that’s not the case with this camisole. Smartwool uses a proprietary blend of Merino and Nylon, strengthening the material while maintaining wool’s natural properties. Still, you’ll want to be mindful of potential snags, which could damage the ultralight fabric.

Moreover, the lace material adds to the already elegant design. The contour should support your curves nicely, while the adjustable straps and large scoop neck will help you to achieve the best fit. Although, some users have noted that the cut isn’t flattering on all body types. If you’re concerned, take a look at the sizing charts.

Overall, the Smartwool lace tank works best as an underlayer. I wouldn’t wear it as a standalone piece out in public, mainly because of its transparency (it can be revealing). Still, it works well underneath a cardigan or just hanging out in the backyard! So, if you’re interested, click the link below to get one for yourself!

Duckworth Women’s Vapor Camisole

50% Polyester, 38% Merino, 12% Modal | 150 gsm | Slim fit | 5 colors | $$

Duckworth Womens Vapor Camisole Cabin Red

Pros: Adjustable straps | Holds shape over time | 100% Made in the USA

Cons: Only basic color options | Limited Merino wool composition

Hiking on the trail or strolling through the park, the Duckworth Vapor Camisole is an excellent choice for any outdoor activity. With adjustable straps and slim contour, you can get the perfect fit, whether wearing it by itself or as an underlayer.

At an ultralight fabric weight (150 gsm), this camisole should almost feel like you’re wearing nothing! Moreover, if you’ve seen our reviews about Duckworth before, you know that their Vapor fabric is one of our favorites. This tri-blend is extremely durable and helps wick away moisture from your skin. So, when you’re wearing this camisole, you shouldn’t have any issues with sweat.

And the reason their fabric has such superior performance because it all comes from Merino Sheep here in the USA. Well, Helle Rambouillet, a close cousin of the Merino, to be exact. Duckworth gets their wool from the Helle Ranch near Dillon, MT. Compared to sheep in Australia who experience milder climates, these Montana sheep have coats battle-tested in the American Rockies. So, the wool that comes out is the best of the best for mountainous outdoor activities. It’s just another reason why I love Duckworth so much!

In short, the Duckworth Vapor Camisole is a great everyday piece. You can wear it running, hiking, and even yoga! It’s also been great for layering under other shirts, perfect for colder weather. It’s just a solid functional top that you should have in you’re wardrobe.

Woolly Cami Tank

95% Merino, 5% Elastane | 150 gsm | Modern fit | 8 colors | $$

Woolly Womens Merino Wool Cami Tank Gray

Pros: Added stretch for comfort | Solid color selection | Excellent warmth-to-weight

Cons: Manufacturing inconsistencies | May shrink over time

Woolly rounds out our Merino wool tees, tanks, and camisoles with another great piece of foundationwear: the Cami Tank. This piece is an everyday underlayer meant to keep you warm when it’s cool and cool when it’s warm!

One of the things I like most about the tank top is the added stretch for comfort. I find it very comfortable to wear, even when moving around. The solid color selection is also nice. I like that there are a variety of colors to choose from (six in all), so you can find one that matches my style.

And with all of Woolly’s products, this Merino wool cami is focused on performance. The fabric is breathable, and the fit is snug (although I wish there were adjustable straps). Still, it could be better, as some users have reported manufacturer defects. Sometimes it’s a stitch here or an off-color there. Yet if you do have concerns, Woolly’s customer service department should take care of you (there are already systems in place for stuff like that). So, when you add it to your cart, know that one way or another, what you see is what you get!

Best Gifts For Moms Who Love The Outdoors

Darn Tough Critter Club Hiking Socks (2-pack)

54% nylon, 43% Merino wool, 3% spandex | Lightweight w/ cushion | 2 patterns | Price: $$$

Darn Tough 2 Pack Womens Merino Wool Hiking Socks

A twist on a classic Mother’s Day present, these Darn Tough Critter Club hiking socks make an excellent choice for moms that love exploring nature. I mean, look at them; they’re so adorable.

But don’t let their cuteness fool you; these lightweight socks have elite comfort and performance features (as do all Darn Tough Socks). The Merino wool blend is stretchy and form-fitting, so Mom won’t have to worry about blisters on her evening walks. Moreover, the underfoot and Achilles cushioning enhances comfort and reduces wear (especially around the heel).

But the best thing about these socks is their value. To see a pair of socks for $20+ may seem alarming at first, but they are guaranteed for life. Like, really, for life. If they wear down, stretch out, or tear, Darn Tough will replace them (barring a few exceptions). Now that’s a deal.

To sum up, these two pairs of Darn Tough socks are perfect for one darn tough mama. You can choose from a hiking hedgehog and stork (my favorite) or a fox and an owl (still cute). Or, check out Darn Tough’s variety of Merino wool sock gift sets to find a style that better suits your mom.

BUFF Lightweight Merino Wool Neckwear

100% Merino wool | Lightweight | 17 colors/patterns | Price: $$

At Merino Wool Gear, we’re big buffs of the buff. I’ve had my Merino wool buff for over five years now, and it’s just as soft as when I purchased it. It’s ultra-comfortable as the soft Merino wool doesn’t scratch or itch like a traditional scarf.

Still, the true allure of this buff is its versatility. Mom can wear it as a neck gaiter, balaclava, beanie, face mask, and more. In fact, there are 16 practical ways to wear a buff, making it a perfect emergency cold-weather accessory. What super-prepared mom wouldn’t love that?

All in all, a lightweight Merino wool buff is genuinely a unique and valuable gift for mom this Mother’s Day. It won’t cost you an arm and a leg but still has that ‘high-dollar’ quality. Over a dozen colors and patterns are available now, while new styles are often released seasonally. So, get one for Mom. Get one for Grandma. Heck, get one for yourself while you’re at it!

Smartwool Hudson Trail Blanket

45% recycled Merino wool fleece (55% synthetic) | 68″ x 55″ | 6 colors | Price: $$$$

Rolled Up Smartwool Hudson Trail Blanket In Olive

You may have heard of Smartwool before for their soft, high-performing, and durable Merino wool socks. However, they have a wide selection of Merino wool clothing and more. And one of our favorite Smartwool offerings is this Hudson Trail Blanket. It’s perfect for an evening campfire in the woods, an afternoon picnic at the park, or even a simple morning cup of coffee in the backyard.

What we love about this blanket is the sewn-in, roll-up snap closure. It’s a unique feature we don’t always see with other Merino wool blankets, which increases portability and functionality. So, whenever your mom isn’t using it, she can stow it away in the car, closet, or cupboard!

Yet, as with all of Smartwool’s gear, the Merino wool is the star. They blend 45% recycled wool and 55% various synthetics into a single-layered, brushed-back knit. Therefore, you get a soft, sustainable fabric with the extra rugged durability needed for an outdoor blanket. And with half-a-dozen colors to choose from, there’s sure to be one that Mom will love! Check out more about the Hudson Trail Blanket below.

Best Gifts For Chill Moms

Woolx Adley FeatherTouch® Pajama Set

70% Merino wool, 30% nylon | Ultralight (150 gsm) | 3 colors + customization | Price: $$$$

Women Wearing A Woolx Adley Merino Wool Pajama Set In Navy Stripes

The Woolx Adley Pajama set is a must-own for moms who cherish their relaxation time. The super soft 16.5-micron fabric is one of the comfiest materials we’ve tried. It just feels like you’re sleeping in a cloud. Moreover, the ultralight fabric (150 gsm) is breezy and breathable. So, even though your mom already has enough to sweat about with you, at least her new PJs will keep her dry.

And, Woolx knows that the shorts-and-tee pajama combination isn’t for everyone. Luckily, they allow you to customize your mom’s pajama set. For the top, you can choose from three options: a v-neck long-sleeve, basic tee, or lounge tank. And for the bottoms, you have the option of pants or shorts. So, there should be a style for whatever Mom prefers.

Still, the Adley set is our favorite out of Woolx’s wide range of pajama options. Mom can rock it around the house all day (the bottom pockets are handy) or wear it to bed. And since she’ll look so stylish, we’re sure Dad will appreciate it, too!

Revolution Fibers Merino Wool Roving (1 lb.)

100% Merino wool | 23-26 microns | Naturally undyed | Price: $$

If your mom is a Pinterest queen, get her some Merino wool roving. Seriously, this stuff is a DIY diva’s wet dream. You can spin it, felt it, needle it, weave it, and knit it. From chunky knit blankets, homemade pet beds, decorative pillows, dryer balls, and tapestries, you can do any with soft, chunky yarn. And, from the ones we’ve tried, the Revolution Fibers Merino wool roving is our favorite.

While the fiber diameter (23-26 microns) is on the rougher end of the Merino wool spectrum, the staple length (3-4 mm) and structure make it feel softer than most 17.5-micron shirts. Moreover, this roving is about as natural as you can get. It’s washed, combed, and carded but has no dyes, giving it a natural look. Honestly, it’s about as raw a wool as you can get without shaving the sheep yourself!

If your chill mama would love a new DIY project, this Revolution Fibers roving is your best bet for a Mother’s Day gift. Although, be sure to get enough material for the desired project. For example, this 1-lb. ball makes almost a dozen dryer balls or one small decorative pillow. However, you’ll need at least six pounds if your mom wants something larger, like an arm-knitted throw blanket. Here’s a quick material guide if you’re interested.

Graf Lantz Wine Bottle Cozy Carrier

100% Merino wool felt (leather handle) | 2 colors | Price: $$

For moms who love a glass of chardonnay, you can’t go wrong with a nice bottle of wine as a gift. But, if you want to step up your gift-giving game this year, include this Graf Lantz Merino wool felt cozy carrier, too. The felted texture, in combination with the leather handle, creates a stylish look that most moms will love.

Not only does this bag look stylish, but it’s functional, too. Just as Merino wool clothing regulates your skin temperature, this felt regulates the temperature of the wine bottle. So, Mom’s favorite Pinot Gris will stay chilled on the way to her book club.

Overall, this Graft Lantz Cozy Carrier is a thoughtful, practical gift for Mom. Since it’s affordable, you can use the spare change to add a bottle of wine. And every mom deserves something better than Franzia.

Best Gifts For Moms On-The-Go

Unbound Merino Scarf + Beanie Bundle

100% Merino wool (both) | Beanie: 5 colors | Scarf: navy only | Price: $$$

Unbound Merino Scarf and Beanie Bundle

For moms always out and about, no matter the weather, you can’t go wrong with gifting a hat and scarf. They are like the peanut butter and jelly of cozy winter accessories. Sure, each makes a solid gift by themselves, but together they can transform a winter wardrobe. And this customizable Merino wool scarf and beanie bundle does just that.

The 100% Italian Merino wool beanie has a lofty 7-gauge knit and rolled brim for maximum warmth, while the smoother 14-gauge knit scarf drapes freely across the shoulders. Unbound Merino has some of the highest quality Merino wool gear we’ve tested, so even if Mom has high standards, she’ll still be impressed. Moreover, you’ll save nearly $60 by getting the bundle instead of purchasing each item separately. Now, that’s a deal that Mom will definitely appreciate.

Icebreaker Women’s Merino Granary Dress

100% Merino wool | Ultralight (150 gsm) | Knee length | 2 colors | Price: $$$$

A woman wearing a a blue Icebreaker Merino Granary dress

Soft, flowy, and downright stylish, the Icebreaker Granary Sleeveless Dress will make a fitting addition to your mom’s wardrobe. The capped shoulders and knee-length hem offer a modest yet fashionable look. Moreover, the relaxed, flowing fabric provides freedom of movement (something moms on the go absolutely love).

And as with most of Icebreaker’s creations, this dress has top-notch quality. The ultralight 100% Merino wool material is soft, breezy, and odor-proof! It’s even wrinkle resistance, so mom can still look fabulous on the road.

Overall, the sleeveless Granary dress is a great all-around piece for summer. Mom can dress it up with accessories like belts and jewelry or pair it with sneakers or sandals for a more casual look (get the version with sleeves for an even more casual look). It’s just a versatile garment that your mom is going to love.

Woolloomooloo Suffolk Slip-On Shoes

100% seamless Merino upper | Sizes 6-12 (whole) | 7 colors + seasonal | Price: $$$$

Woolloomooloo Suffolk Slip Ons

Moms constantly making the rounds need a solid pair of shoes. You don’t want her feet to hurt as she’s running all over town! And in terms of Merino wool shoes, these Woolloomooloo Suffolk Slip Ons may be the comfiest shoes we’ve seen.

According to Woolloomooloo, they have ” mastered the recipe for the ultimate everyday shoe” with the Suffolks, and I agree. Woolloomooloo digitally knits the Merino in these shoes, unlike other shoe brands that may boil or feel their wool. This process creates a more consistent product, which is huge since manufacturing inconsistency is one of the downsides of Merino wool gear.

So, if Mom needs comfy new kicks, you can look no further. They have a luxurious ‘foot feel’ and won’t stink up the shoe closet! Mom can go sockless all day without any ‘foot funk.’ Available in seven vibrant shades, grab a color that she’ll never want to take off!

Best Gifts For Moms Who Work From Home

Wool& Landmark Cardigan

78% Merino wool, 22% nylon | Lightweight | 4 colors | Price: $$$$

Wool And Landmark Merino Wool Cardigan

Any mom who works from home can truly appreciate the warmth and versatility of a cardigan. She can dress it up with a blouse for all those unnecessary video meetings, then dress it down in a tank when it’s quitting time. And our favorite Merino wool cardigan  the Wool& Landmark – is perfect for moms who are a freak in the sheets. Excel sheets, that is.

Lame joke aside, this cardigan’s style is breezy and relaxed. The lightweight (160 gsm) material is breathable yet warm, and the 17.5-micron Merino wool almost feels velvety against the skin. There aren’t any obnoxious bells or whistles, just two handwarmer pockets, and a modest mid-thigh drape. Like much of Wool&’s collection, the Lankmark cardigan is a simple, functional piece. And every mom can appreciate that!

Kygries Women’s Tengries Slippers

Merino felt uppers (non-slip leather soles) | Sizes 35-44 (EU) | 5 colors | Price: $$$

Purple Merino Wool Felt Slippers By Kyrgies

Still undecided on what to get Mom for Mother’s Day? You can’t go wrong with a pair of cozy Merino wool slippers. And even if she already has work-from-home slippers, the Kyrgies Tengries slippers are better in every way. Expertly crafted by artisans in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan (hence the brand name, Kyrgies), these felted slippers have a snug pull-on design that allows for movement and flex yet still provides ample support.

These slippers behave more like house shoes, as non-slip leather soles work effectively on any surface (hardwood, tile, carpet, etc.). However, your mom will want to limit their use to within the four walls, as any prolonged outdoor ground moisture will ruin them. Still, if Mom likes a few walks down the driveway or a cup of coffee on the patio, you should opt for the Tengries Walkabouts instead, as they are the same slipper with a vulcanized rubber sole.

Available in five vibrant colors (purple and orange are my favorite), there’s bound to be a shade that fits Mom’s professional and personal life. Head over to Kyrgies to learn more!

Graf Lantz Mosen Merino Wool Felt Desk Pad

100% Merino wool felt | 31.5″ x 19″ | 5 colors | Price: $$$

Graft Lantz Merino Wool Felt Desk Pad Gray

A Mosen is a traditional felted wool rug used in Japanese tea ceremonies. These ceremonies help people connect and appreciate the simpler things in life. And much like these time-honored gatherings, the 100% felted Merino wool Mosen desk pad from Graf Lantz is something that all working moms will appreciate.

The large mat (31.5″ x 19″) can fit a laptop, keyboard, and mouse setup with plenty of spare space. Still, we suggest secretly investigating the size and color scheme of your mom’s workspace (especially since the springy 3mm felt is not an ideal writing surface). And you want to avoid getting her a gift that will sit in the closet forever! If Mama Bear has a smaller desk, a medium size (24″ x 12″) may be more appropriate.

So, if your mom has all the clothes she needs, but you still want to get her a fabulous, functional present, we highly suggest this desk pad. Or, you can check out Graf Lantz’s entire felted Merino collection, including tissue box covers, coasters, organizing bins, and much more!

Best Gifts For New & Expecting Mothers

Woolino Baby Sleeping Sack

100% Merino wool liner, 100% organic cotton outer | 16 colors/patterns | Price: $$$$

Little ones love it; mothers love it even more.

The Woolino baby sleep sack is one of the most popular gifts on baby shower registries for a good reason: it actually works. The new kiddo will feel safe, secure, and comfortable as they sleep throughout the night. Moreover, the snap-on design helps prevent tangling or bunching if the baby moves around in their sleep. So, Mom can finally catch a few restful zzz’s.

The secret to this sleep sack’s success is in the design. The outer is 100% organic cotton, while the interior is 100% Merino wool, both soft and hypoallergenic. With additional features like seat belt slots and a two-way zipper, Mom can even bring Woolino on the road.

To sum up, the Woolino baby sleep sack is the best sleep sack on the market, Merino wool or not (2,000+ five-star reviews would agree). Choose from over a dozen colors and patterns and give that new baby – and tired new mama – the rest they deserve.

Nui Organics Merino Infant Nature Socks 5 Pack

85% Merino wool, 10% elastic, 5% polyamide | Set of 5 (various colors) | Price: $$

Nui Organics Merino Infant Nature Socks Various Colors

These Nui Organics Merino Infant Nature Socks are an excellent value for the price. For the price of two pairs of adult socks, you get five high-quality baby ones. Moreover, I love the unique selection of colors. They aren’t your typical white/gray/black socks but a collection of vibrant, natural colors inspired by Harakeke (flax) growing throughout New Zealand’s countryside.

The lightweight, 85% Merino wool is breathable while keeping the baby’s little toes warm and toasty. They feature a snug fit and stay-on rib knit structure that helps to hold them in place, even when your baby is crawling or running around. Although, they don’t have a non-slip sole, which may be problematic if the kiddo is learning to walk.

These infant Merino wool socks are a thoughtful, practical, and aesthetically-pleasing gift for new moms. Check them out at Nui Organics, and while you’re at it, survey the rest of their Merino wool baby clothing collection. Perhaps there’s a gift that mom will love even more!

Wool& Juniper Baby Swaddle

78% Merino wool, 22% Nylon | Mid-to-Heavyweight (300 gsm) | 2 colors | Price: $$$

Wooland Juniper Baby Swaddle Navy

As a parent, I can’t over-emphasize the importance of a swaddle. When the baby is crying – and mom is going crazy – a cozy, tightly-wrapped blanket will calm them down. But despite its usefulness, I rarely see a high-quality swaddle on a baby registry. So, even if you can’t find it on their BabyList, expecting moms and their little ones will, without a doubt, love the Wool& Juniper Swaddle.

The soft, interlocking Merino wool knit (300 gsm fabric weight) regulates temperature well so newborns won’t sweat or overheat at night. Moreover, Wool& uses a small percentage of nylon for added stretch and durability, which is necessary to tightly wrap that cute little burrito.

The Juniper swaddle works from 0-4 months, but Mom can use it for years since it’s just a high-quality mini-blanket. I use our old swaddle as a small car blanket, and my son still loves it! So, if you want a practical, cozy gift for an expecting mother, you can’t go wrong with this Merino wool swaddle.
